| Hey, I was browsing auctions because why not and bid on one that had 4 as the highest bid. After doing so it was instantly bid over to +3 of whatever I bid, I tried this several times and it always gave me the message of
 "Bid accepted"

"You have been outbidden by another player!"

So this happened on several items after checking but I can't help but wonder if this happens automatically because someone is using some sort of market bot or if it's because someone bid over the amount I did... but then shouldn't that show up as the highest bid? I'm confused, thanks in advance...

| No, it's because the person had already bid higher. The amount displayed was less than their maximum bid.
The auction never displays the current maximum bid; rather, it shows a bid that is <the previous maximum bid> + <a little bit more>. It will automatically re-bid on your behalf if someone makes a bid that is higher than you current bid (but lower than your maximum). If they bid higher than your maximum, the price they'll get will be <your maximum> + <a little bit more>.
 |
| In other words: If you want an item, place a single bid for the maximum you are willing to pay. If that's more than anyone else is willing to pay, you'll win the item (for <second-highest bid> + <a little bit>). |
| click on 'i' button near to that item on the market, you will understand everything. |
| Okay, I understand. Thanks for the explanation. |
