AuthorHTML 5 Shift
So it's confirmed now that the game will sooner or later completely move to HTML 5.
I don't know much about programming and computers, so can anyone tell me what's the main difference between this and flash?
Would this change be very apparent, as in better graphics and overall look, or will it not be noticeable at all, as in only the code running behind our screens is changed?

If there is an apparent change, can someone link a picture to show how flash and HTML 5 are different?
Has a good little table at the bottom

Flash is a 3rd party app by Adobe that needs to be installed on your system and runs in your browser. For this particular game, you have battles, creature infos, the heart and mana things in the header, and the enroll codes implemented with it. Some browsers come with a version of Flash already, but usually you need to install it separately. Some mobile devices support Flash in their browsers, some do not. Apple's devices don't support Flash at all natively.

HTML5 is a modern web standard which is powerful enough to perform things like such interactive games without the need of Flash. Modern browsers are embracing HTML5 and for that reason Flash is dying. Even Adobe announced that they will not update and support it and that they expect it to die in 2020 or something of that sort.

What does this mean for the developers of this game? Well, most people won't be having Flash anymore on their computers. I suspect at that time, most browsers will not even run Flash anymore for security reasons since vulnerabilities will arise for which there will be no fixes. That means they will have to redo battles as that's where most of the work is needed. Based on how it is architectured, this could be easy or difficult. Some of the battle logic is certainly server side so based on how abstracted from the actual Flash implementation it is, they might not need to touch it.

What does this mean for you and me? Well, we won't need Flash anymore. HTML5 is something that browsers will support themselves, so you won't need anything but a modern browser. The experience will be smoother and the needed resources should be less. Mobile devices with browsers supporting HTML5 should be able to run the game just fine too.
I see, so something like playing battles using mobile phones would be easy after the shift to html 5?
And what about in game stuff? Does it affect anything like graphics and how the game "looks" right now?
It should be easier. If I'm not mistaken, I think HTML5 has some touch specific capabilities and if they take the time, they could improve the experience on mobile devices. Since it isn't so easy to choose the angle of attacking on a small screen or to use a melee attack as a caster, they could come up with alternative means for handling thee actions on such devices.

As for the look and feel, it is very likely that it can be implemented to look the exact same way. However, since they would be redoing it from scratch, they could also take the time to improve some things here and there which could end up with a possibly different layout or user experience. The artwork should be reusable so unless they choose to redo that too, which I highly doubt, creatures and animations shouldn't be much different.
I see, thanks for the info!
