AuthorHow are ST points earned?
Howdy. I just played my first battle in my first ST, and got 7227 points after dying at wave 16. I watched ST 231's top tribal scorer for my level (4), and saw he got 12k+ points after dying at wave 14.

What am I missing, why is there such a large disparity in points? From the 'About the Game' link on tourneys:

"players compete in how long they survive and how much damage they deal to the swarm."

Does this mean I got a comparatively weak set of spawns?
Every unit has its own point per unit, so it depends on how many and what type of unit you kill
an important thing to know is that the damage done to the mobs by the lightning tower doesn't give you any points
You can't compare current ST score from last ST's score.
Waves are different everytime.

Other than that, point system differs for each creature, like Aurelija said.
Basically, there's a new random seed every ST ; the waves are the same for all factions of the same level in the same ST (which is why you can't see current battles), but vary from one ST to the next randomly.

Because of this it's in principle possible a ST hits a hard spawn and stops the very best at certain wave only for the next ST to be mellower and permit even middling players pass that wave.

Similarily it's possible to have less valuable monsters summing up to less, or more valuable monsters summing up to more up to an arbitrary wave.

In particular because of faction bonuses and their interplay with monster characteristics, the monster value (which is the same for all factions) doesn't necessarily map perfectly to some kind of "objective stopping power" for the faction you're playing.
Ah, makes sense now. Thanks & gl!

This true ?
^ Yes that's true.
