Does having negative morale decrease the damage dealt if retribution talent is learned? |
Not necessarily answering the question but adding another point to it-
Will the damage increase past 5 morale? Because a morale higher than 5 has no further effect. |
Yes, the damage increase with morale higher than 5.
I would also be curious if piercing luck works like that (past 5 and if it is affected by decreasing luck effects). |
If anyone is interested for piercing luck I can try in a hunt assist with genies. |
For Slust-Can you check it for piercing luck? Also, does negative morale decrease dmg? |
Can you check it for piercing luck?
Dwarf with expert holy can bless so that stacks deal fixed damage. Then I can increase luck and compare the damage with or without luck increase (actual damage, not tooltip which might or might not account for this) on a high defense creature.
I guess you could do something similar for morale but it is harder to come up with a situation where you can check that. |
For morale you would have to resurrect something to get yourself a negative morale or else use rings of doubt to get it negative |

Oh right... Elf can both bless and raise to check it alone in a single battle, so it's actually easier to check than piercing luck :p |
Negative morale is easy enough to check if you take the right rings. :) |
Accidentally hit post.
Doesn't have to be a faction with bless, could easy with something like angels with same min max. |
Negative morale and temporary modifiers might not have the same effect (perhaps it only checks parameter at battle start). Also you can't check before/after with ring while you can with raise. Knight can't check because it doesn't have retribution talent. I'm not aware of another creature with same min/max that could fit. |
For checking the luck, would be dual tg best option, since neutral creatures have little defence to ignore |
Sepulchre golem has 50 defense so it can detect 2% ignore defense, or 4% if you consider potential rounding effects. TG can be done but there's much less you control from how many "test stacks" to hero parameters, talents, I'm not even sure if faction resist is fixed for every hero of similar CL. |
I ran a first test with retribution. I started with morale 5 (a mistake in retrospect) and increased further morale with both ritual and mirth for up to 11 morale. Damage did not change.
Two possibilities: morale above 5 has no effect (I remember reading otherwise but never checked until now), or temporary modifiers have no effect.
I will try in another battle to see which one it is.

for Slust:
Thanks for testing this! Btw knight has retribution :p |
Some more goblin violence in the name of knowledge:

Here I started with 3 morale and buffed morale again with ritual and mirth. Damage increased (497 to 540) when going from 3 morale to 6 but did not increase with 9 morale.
So, temporary modifiers affect damage but it likely caps at 5 (I have no clue suggesting that the cap is 5 rather than 4 but logic would say so). |
Thanks for testing! The cap seems to be indeed 5:
damage without retribution 497/1.15 = 432
damage with 5+ morale 432*1.25=540 |
Ah! I was affraid of maths with all the modifiers but that's as easy as it can get :) |
Here is the negative morale test:

Going from -4 to -1 did not increase damage so negative morale does not decrease damage. |
Thanks! |
