I've been wondering about it for a while..
Imagine this: after reaching a given level (say, either a combat level, or a faction level) you would be given the possibility to reset your account.
All stats would be lost, you would keep your money and resources, nothing else (so everything in inventory, estates, armaments etc.. would vanish)and start back from square 1 (minus the tutorial).
This would allow players that had a bad start or made mistakes to have a fresh new beginning, with an advantage in money, of course, but at the same time if the reset was set to a high level, like a FS 10, or CL 15 or similar, it would be hard to abuse.
And people who already have a lot of stuff done would see no interest in losing it, so the strongest players would still remain where they are.
But those who give up saying that they will never reach high, never win a tournament, never get back up from their gambling etc.. would have an incentive to actually give a second try to the game.
Note that, keeping the resources, means also keeping penalties imposed, of course. Those that cheat don't get amnisty ;)
what do you guys think? | +1 if you lose the gold too so you only get to keep the identity.
That is if you really want a start over, if you are not willing to let go of your gold then you don't want or feel the need badly enough anyway =) | well the gold and ressources are both an incentive and a challenge for the strongest players: starting with "something" allow someone to strategically restart to make a stronger character, knowing they can build several castles, and start making résistances etc.. basicly all the things they were probably lacking when they first started. And also because it may be needed to keep also the penalties. The required high level would be to avoid abuse(and could be made scaling).
But it could be limited, of course; for example a player may be made restart with only 20% of its wealth, and no more than 300k gold, or something like that. It may sound a lot, but honestly at low levels there is only so much you do with gold, and it would run out pretty fast, i'm sure.
Although allowing for higher amounts would also make higher players give it a thought, and refresh the game.
Because once you reach lvl 2X, and have only impossible hunts, merc quests, etc, what do you do except pvp or tournaments.. may get boring at some point, for some people.
And then there is that "hint record" you did when you were lvl 5, and somebody else beated, and you are just sad that you can't fight it back.. | -1
There's always time to improve , this game isn't finite , its an unlimited game in which you can farm anything till whatever extent you want..
So the weak can be strong ;)
Will just take a bit of hardwork... | Seems like space for abuse.. What if I gift my best arts to a friend, reset and he gifts back?

Just make a new account, no? | its an unlimited game in which you can farm anything till whatever extent you want..
I disagree, this game is definitely NOT about farming infinitely, it's about competition. The farming and grinding are factors used to improve your competition abilities. So once your characted is messed up, there is no recovery, and the further ahead you are, the more it will be frustrating.
Just make a new account, no?
no there is a difference between resetting and creating a new account.
When things go wrong, people just quit. Some try to restart, but find the beginning so tedious, that they often go to look for something else.
That is how the number of players here dropped so drastically.
And as strange as it sounds, the ability to restart your own character is something that keeps people playing, instead. The fact that you ca "run through" the first levels (thanks to the inherited resources) allows you to position yourself better from the beginning.
The abuse would be relative: first of all, history isn't deleted, and transfer logs would show what happens; second, your best arts would be for a lvl 10-15 or higher, and how useful will they be when you are lvl 1? Then again, the gold issue would prevent this - just sell them, and buy new, better stuff for your new level afteward.
And finally, you would also keep all your records, and badges (that now you can either re-challenge or get challenged by others!)
That is something quite different than a new account.
And what about the rewamp of market, where low level items would finally find a new demand from resetting players? Our community is ageing, and there is less and less interest for them. Which in return makes it less and less interesting to work in some facilites, for example.
Please don't just think of this on the individual scale; rather look at it at the level of gameplay: would it help keeping people in and revitalize the game?
I do believe so. | So once your characted is messed up, there is no recovery,
This isn't entirely true, by the time you hit CL22, since you can't level up again, you can actually recover all the guilds etc. :P
your best arts would be for a lvl 10-15 or higher,
I was talking about things like seasonal arts. Or even arts you get from chests of abundance.
And what about the rewamp of market, where low level items would finally find a new demand from resetting players?
Does the market need revamping at the lower levels?
would it help keeping people in and revitalize the game?
Not really sure on this point, can't really imagine someone actually pressing the reset button. | I see the merits of this idea especially after #3, but i am still not sure about the re-usability of the reset button. If you knew that you could reset, wouldn't you play the game with a different mindset? That's what i dont like. For instance, You would ignore guild building and focus on amassing gold without giving any consideration to exp and fsp until you are sick of storing gold for the reset and then you would start over.
And there's no end to the cycle. New chars might always seem stronger and honestly there's no threshold to ever feel truly competitive in the long term.
In a way, your idea can make the game even more grind-y.

Whats with you making this personal? First you will provoke others, then when they retaliate and the thread becomes a mess, you will be the first one to throw out bs bans/lock thread. Or perhaps you are counting on being the only one capable of being a jerk? | -1
Too much potential for abuse of this feature.

Too much potential for abuse of this feature.
- Even if there is a limit to gold that you can store, one can buy rare arts and send them to a friend and take back again after reset and sell them to get his gold back.
- One can collect lot of levelling up bonus by quickly levelling up and then resetting account after buy arts from this gold and sending to friend.
- If you don't lose gold, it will be like a major negative impact on new players who do not have much gold to buy good arts but older players would simply get advantage of having more parameters by doing AG, watcher's guild, etc easily.

I believe you would again delete my message saying that I should ask a moderator if I think a forum rule is being broken but what can I do if a moderator is himself breaking those rules. Sorry. | ok this is getting a club fight again. Guys go make things right on the battlefield instead. | closed by guyb (2018-08-12 19:41:10) |
