Magic shield vs magic resistance?

AuthorMagic shield vs magic resistance?
Are they same/different?
Talents give 20% magic shield. Does that affect damage spells? Does that affect darkness casts?
Armor magic resistances. Do they affect damage spells? Do they affect darkness casts?

Does faction resistance give magic shield/resistance?

Talents provide magic proof. Artifacts give magic shield.

Thanks, but note that people will continue asking the way things are.

If the talents didn't say magic shiled in description, that'd be great.

Now, 'magic proof', how does it round with regards to disruption ray?
Say original disruption ray does 5 def reduction.
Resistance talent: 20%. So Disruption ray will do 4 def reduction only.
Say Resistance + barrier: 36%. So Disruption ray should do 3.2 def reduction --> Will that become 3 or 4?
Yes, you are right. The talents have wrong description, based on the fact that artifacts give magic shield but this does not produce the same effect as magic proof. On the other hand, modern golems have magic shield while unicorns have the aura of magic proof both of which have expected interactions with spells.

About that resistance + barrier part, I am not sure. It needs to be tested between two players who care enough to say. Or you may find your answer by looking at battles already played.
This is about proof and resistance

The talents have wrong description

Why do you think that the talent, in spite of its description, gives magic proof/resistance instead of magic shield?
for Omar Contreras:
Because you can see in battles that they reduce the effect of debuffs (when subject to dark spells) as well as damage (in case of chaos spells).
