Only uncommon and higher rarity troops can be resurrected. And yes it costs gold.

It automatically resurrects and doesnt ask for confirmation.
On the other hand, just untick the box, so that you can resurrect manually and you will know how much it costs to resurrect each creature |
| It cost 10% the leadership value of dead troops. However, for rare creatures, you get 10% discount. For epic creatures, 15% discount. The Help page hasn't been updated to include legendary creatures, but I would guess that they get 20% discount. |
