Returning after 6+ years

AuthorReturning after 6+ years
Hey guys, I havent played this game properly in over 6 years I think, from around the time the game merged with the Russian servers. SO much has changed and I was so young when I used to play this game, it all seems so foreign to me now. Is there anywhere I can get some condensed information on everything thats happened in the last few years, as well as maybe some tips and tricks for things to do daily etc?
Thanks :)
I'd start with the official announcements, maybe here if it's been 6 years thought I think it's been a lot longer since merge.

So I was in exactly the same situation. I quit when the merge happened and came back about a year ago. The game is very different now but the core is still the same. On balance it is better but there are some sad things too.

There are more factions. Dwarf came in just before merge but tribal has since been added

Some of the racial abilities have changed and new ones have been added. Barbarian n longer has magic proof, DE no longer has magic piercing. Tribal spirit is quite important.

There are lots of new talents - wait until you find out about dominion of fire. Your eyes will roll into the back of your head.

Loads of new units/creatures

Lots of new abilities - I used to know them all, now there are hundreds and hundreds.

Now every faction has at least 2 variants. E.g. elf has charmer and classic, demon/darkness demon, classic wizard/battlewise wizard. It will take a little while to learn these

Thieves guild invitation (TGI) can no longer be rented

There are many more events, they happen at least every 2 weeks now

Military clans have become a more important part of the game. MCs can hold facilities which generate income and must be defended from daily attacks by NPCs known as survilurgs.

Clan wars/facility capture/interceptions - as an old player these still confuse me

Abu Bakir's charm - it took me a while to find out about this. Its 10 diamonds per month and grants additional fsp, inventory slots, travel time etc. It's like a soft subscription to play. Not essential but improves the game significantly, a large proportion of serious players use it.

Unfortunately the community/clan scene has seriously declined since the old days. There are now only 2 (1.5) .com military clans from the old days.

The combat mechanics have changed and you have a lot more information in battle. It shows you how much damage you will do and how many units you will kill. This has taken some skill out the game but is very useful. You don't need to hastily use the calculator for those big PvP hits. You can also see abilities in combat

New guild 'Leaders guild' just pretend you didn't even hear about this and forget it exists. You'll lead a happier life as a result.

New guild 'adventurers guild'. Expensive PvE campaigns, gives good stat boost.

PvP and commanders guild has changed a lot over the years. Now it's about the best it's been with well balanced 2v2 fights

I'll have forgotten loads of stuff, ask if there are questions.

p.s. if you haven't already you need to make a new character. The old fsp ratio on .com characters is ridiculously low compared to now and old characters are very weak. My previous char had some of the best stats at the time and now he is a joke character.
Also, do the daily watchers' guild quests - you can access them by clicking on the shield with the flame on the top right of the map (or by mousing over the "battles" tab if you're not on mobile). They contribute points to the watchers' guild - the amount of points depends on the surviving troops in the battle, so you have to play carefully.

You need to be decently equipped but the battles give a good fsp ratio (that is fsp per exp). Also, you can only do three per day (four after you get to level five of the guild).

The beauty of the game is that you haven't really missed anything important compared to more developed characters. Good luck and I hope you enjoy your return. :D
