Plague could be something powerful enough to cause corrosion and/or decrease the life time of metal.
Elementals, depends. Do they breath? If they do, they shouldn't be immune.
We know for a fact, that without air fire would cease to exist, and through air plague can spread, and infiltrate on it's 'system' (if it has one), but then, won't the plague molecules burn into a crispy against a fire elemental?
It's about the personal interpretation of the creator, how elementals 'body' work.
