Author | Rapture in pain / agony returned damage cap? |
Hi, I always thought that the returned damage from rapture in pain ability (portal demon demonesses and infernal succubi) is capped as a portion of the total HP of demoness stack. That would make sense to me, as otherwise killing 1 demoness with a big, high attack stack of units would lead to damaging the attacking army much more than the receiver's. However, it seems that the cap is not there, which can eventually lead to a scenario like this:
Boar riders deal 5909 damage to Infernal succubi. 11 perish.
Boar riders take 1153 damage from Infernal succubi` rapture in pain. 82 perish.
Is this a bug or is this really how the game is intended to work?
Thanks for clarification. | Is the above something that actually happened in combat? in which case I think you've answered your own question
Yes it does seem stupid but the math checks out
Could technically draw the combat by hitting 1 succubi with 100 boars with luck/high attack so everything dies
I suppose it is similar to magma dragon ability such as in the following combat:
https://www.lordswm.com/war.php?lt=-1&warid=849101142&html5=1
Ogre trophy-hunters deal 8089 damage to Magma dragons. 9 perish.
Magma dragons deal 989 damage to Ogre trophy-hunters with the magma shield. 13 perish | Yeah it's real numbers from my today's WG quest.
It is similar as with magma dragons, but the point is that the magma shield damage seems to be capped at exactly 40% remaining health of the dragons (9 dragons with the 9th one having 234 HP is total 2474 HP, 40 % of it is exactly 989, which is what the ogres received). If there was more dragons, the ogre stack could have perished completely, if there was one dragon remaining, the damage would be close to negligible.
This seems not to be the case with infernal succubi, where (supposedly) even tiny succubi stack can kill huge attacking stack, because the returned damage is only proportional to original damage dealt, without any cap. Theoretically, one wounded succubus with 1 remaining HP can reflect tens of thousands damage, which, arguably, should not be possible :) | The more the succubi died, the more they experience pain and thus the more the rapture hurts
The more magma dragons die, the weaker their shield and thus it hurts less
Nonsense theory but kinda works xD | Does seem to defy logic. I would say more of an oversight than an actual bug but clearly a lack of thought when they developed this ability. |
