AuthorDemons always are the least played faction since I started
just wanted to know why is that
are they really that bad in all guilds activities?
or what's the reason
Playing it is less predictable and more complicated because of gating and ricochet shot
Demon classes are not good in hunt, mg so that could be one of the reason.
It takes some planning to play as a Demon

So far from what i have learned, rushing is not a very effective strategy, rather using their gating to disable ranged units if possible and then try to lure melee units with small stacks.

Dont depend on demons until you get their upgrade, too slow and too weak otherwise, rather imps are faster and do more damage while sapping the enemy mana which can be huge.

Succubi will more than likely be quickly killed off if fighting factions with strong ranged units, a shame but gives your very fragile tier 1 to 3 some breathing room.

I wouldnt call them bad, just difficult than with barbarians or elves.

demon is quite weak early on i would say since their units arent very strong. its more about gating instead of the base army so if you want to make use of that u have to play with stats in defence.

in pvp defence red demons with high faction level and potentially extensive gating are a menace able to summon almost 100% extra army through gating and defense means you cant kill them quickly. demon t6 upgrade absolutely murders enemy t6-7 units and has disruption rays to wreck single stack enemies like garg for wiz, gaurdians for knights ogres for shadow barb etc their t7 summons more t6 units so even more shredding of high tier enemy units and disrupt rays. overall they are quite strong in pvp but mainly have to be played as defence build which means they weak to mages and dominion of fire, which is everywhere, likely also the reason tribal isnt played much either.

dark demons are an absolute menace in pvp post 17 and especially 17+ with fiends 1 shotting anything within 8 tile range with full defense talents and abyss demons being strong against high stacks like gaurdians etc. temptresses just prevent enemies from fighting bcak while fiends 1 shot everything. its just slow and boring to play but after 17 they are crazy hard to deal with in pvp. for those who dont like 2 hour pvp games this is not the class to play.

tldr. demon faction is a defensive class that takes a lot of time to play so therefore decreases popularity
in pve they like mg, hunts and theif guild they are easily outclassed by elf dark elf and barb classes which comparatively beat those fights faster and more efficiently.

i only use dark demon in wg to 3* brigands quests as dd loves enemies rushing into them and can take the hits, or tickles i should say, really well

an example of wg. i know i use full dono gear but my inventory is simply too packed to bother with getting cheap gear nor do i care extensively either. something like this is easily done in cheap gear as well
Demon is not easy as well as not strong.
Red demon is the hardest faction overall, you have to plan gating, which means you have to predict enemy moves as well as yours after 1-2 turns, but your opponent just have to act depend on what they see now. if you do everything right, you may have a tough and long victory, but if you made any mistake, you lose immediately.
Dark demon may be a bit easier, but definitely not easy for novices. the problem for dark demon is, there are always some opponents you can never win, regardless on your control.
While if you are elf or dwarf or something like that, you do not need many control, what you need is just press auto and pray for luck.
I think these % stats are less relevant now that we can change faction at will. They will always be biased towards good PVE factions as a result.

Looking at HWMDaily, Demon's PVP win rate is above 50% on average (both red and dark). They just aren't most people's preference as outlined by slayerofall.

I'm sure religion is part of it too...I made my account when I was a kid (2008). I know my parents would have taken my computer away if they saw a bunch of pentagrams on the screen haha.

Very interesting hypothesis but I doubt it.
Yeah, I'm not sure of the magnitude, but it was true for me. It's likely true for others imo.
I'm not sure how many parents keep an eye on what their kids are doing on their computers. I don't think it's very common even in this generation with relatively tech-savvy parents. But I'm sure the players themselves won't care for those things haha.
