AuthorSaving Winter! Part 2
I mean if you think that's an option, then you are mindlessly playing a game without being competitive. (Which in most cases sounds pointless)

Depends if your goal is to have fun or to be competitive
Sorry, If I sounded rude. I don't mean it in a rude way. Just putting my thoughts out here.
I did not use good arts until around level 25(it was higher than this in the sudden levels, more like 30 on them). At this point the gold rewards was larger and as long as you did not lose more than once per level is profitable past level 30. I stopped when I judged I would likely start not being profitable and could not be bothered to grind through to a win. I'd reached a point of diminishing returns.

I speak only what I have found true for me, and done. Feel free to scrutinize my combat record.
Oh right. Didn't know that. But I don't need to tell you the obvious solution for that problem.

But it's fun when you are in a clan. Gives me a purpose atleast.

Most would say that this statement is contradictory with your earlier one.
He is in a clan that aims to be in top 3. So yes, whether you like it or not, you have to do it for the clan.

But I guess I can understand what you mean :)

Absolutely! Also, I don't think it would be wrong to say majority of the players in this game are very competitive so naturally they will aim for top result! Hence, they don't see quitting as an option. I feel they should be rewarded well for putting their effort and time they put in. This reward seems to do the opposite.
I am just against the notion "if you want profit, quit early". In a way, you are trying to say "Don't play the game".

Could also be seen as "if you want to minimise your losses, don't do as many battles"

Funny, I would have said most of the players in this game are casual. Only top 7 or 8 were competitive which is about 1k players compared to maybe 5k of the player base. Maybe it's the fact you're in one of the top competitive clans and I'm not that we have differing views

Dude, "don't do as many battles" is basically saying don't play the game. How are you putting that out as an option. The game should promote competitiveness while nurturing the fun part.

Maybe you are right because this game is just different that most of the other games. Different in terms of player base and administration.

This is an interesting point with regards to the motivations within this game, something I have pondered on at various points across my playing time.

There is an aspect of being competitive that is enjoyable. A perception of being better than other people(ultimately the outcome of competition is to put us all in an order of best to least so), makes you feel good, even if in a trivial and transitory way. This relativistic measuring of being better, through character stats or winning battles, was, and to a certain extent still remains a factor of motivation. On this basis, without being competitive and successful, this source of enjoyment is lost.

Part of the enjoyment for me comes from the thought process of what to do, and testing it. This is independent of where it works or not.

Over time I am more sure of what is the best choice of how to play in terms of character building, but that do not actually enjoy the grind of doing so. As such have reduced my personal expectation of being competitive, there will always be those that make the choices I am not willing to make.

It also means that I will tend to get more bored when towards the end of an event it is rather samey and the best route through is to copy what others have done and ground it it is a marginal win.

That's just me though.

As toSorry, If I sounded rude. I don't mean it in a rude way. Just putting my thoughts out here no worries. It is the maturity and self reflection of comments like that which make me feel good about humanity.
The game should promote competitiveness while nurturing the fun part.

It should, but when the rewards aren't as good as they could (or should) be, then there is less of a reason for a player to be competitive.

Not just talking about the artifact, rewards could include guild points and gold though admittedly I haven't bothered to keep track of how much gold I've spent vs. guild points.

And there is a very big difference between "don't do as many battles" vs. "don't play the game" there are many different aspects to this game. If one person chooses not to do participate as much in one event and does CG instead, how is that "not playing the game"?

I did make that correction in #99
for Lord MilesTeg:
I might start exploring PvP more once I get bored with events. And then slowly I might end up play the game same way as you lol (testing out different builds and things)
It should, but when the rewards aren't as good as they could (or should) be, then there is less of a reason for a player to be competitive
This is exactly why people are not happy.
for Neon10:
The contradiction for me is that really there only bit that would properly interest me is PvP, yet do not do it as is not flexible enough to fit into my real life routine. I can only afford little snippets of time, which I can stop at any point with no consequence. This results in pve, which lacks the reward.
I at least wouldn't mind having that achievement on my profile. It looks cool :D
for virtual_vitrea:

wow dude. I didnt say magma set was useless... i said magma cloak is useless as it is in a slot where another 5x12 weapon enchant would be. it is 100% next magma item coming as rings will be last. so we have 3-4 events of basically useless collecting of magma parts
Okay? good to know.
Neon you seem to think game==life ...
I come here to relax. That's all. Sometimes that means pvp, sometimes that means collecting pokemon. Sometimes that means blind rushing through event levels.

If you want game to be challenge, you can make it challenging by doing any event in less AP. Rank-1 isn't the only thing out there.

Part of the enjoyment for me comes from the thought process of what to do, and testing it. This is independent of where it works or not. +100
