You mean that there is more for melee then for mages? Guessing reason would be that most factions are melee/ranged with a little hybrid magic. There are only like 3 factions that can use full magic (mage/DE/Demon).
The items for mages are as good as the items for melee factions. Mages can be really strong! |
It's for the purpose of general balance. Mages would be too overpowered if they could get the same number of parameters as attack builds in spell power.
The price discrimination is another matter and realistically there is no reason for this but magic artifacts have always cost more since the start of the game. Is it fair? No |
Attack stat is countered by defense stat, both of these stats have similar ceilings.
Magic damage doesn't really have an equal but opposite counter like attack vs defense scenario, but it can be resisted to some extent by magic resistance which is only % based reduction in damage, so you cannot compare the number of magic parameters directly with non-magic parameters. They have to be balanced differently because their practical value in combat is different.
Another perspective is that a pure mage (non-hybrid class) will only care about their army's total hp and defense stat for survival and therefore attack and initiative of might-based builds need to be scaled appropriately to deal with those two things or it will become unbalanced. Devs probably went through a lot of trial runs over time to find this balance. We still have minor tournaments and small adjustments in the total hp of individual classes. |
