What's up with the CG ELO ratings

AuthorWhat's up with the CG ELO ratings
Couldn't find any discussion / official threads.
They're taken from https://daily.heroeswm.ru/gt/rating.

They're loosely used for matchmaking in CGs. It's not as effective when there aren't that many people joining CGs (which is almost always), but an effort is made to keep the teams "balanced", whatever that means.
Is this a historical value / does it reset every "season"?
How is it calculated basically.
I'm pretty sure the value is cumulative (i.e. there are no resets).

I don't know how elo changes are calculated. Maybe you could contact omni (https://www.lordswm.com/pl_info.php?id=7678745) for more information.
I'm just annoyed at having a rating of 1250 lol. Time to redeem myself.
Lower rating than mine right now smh. Good luck, I guess...
ELO?...Electric Light Orchestra?
The term Elo comes from a name and thus should not be capitalized like an acronym. The more you know.
for Mammary:
Don't bring me down! :D
It's a way to get the noobs to pipedown when they start trash talking.

Oh you think I suck and don't know how to play Mr Russian? Well it seems your ELO is 950 against mine at 1400. Get back in your box.

On a more serious note it is very useful for assessing people pre fight. In a 2v2 I always open the character page of the other 3 and do a 10 second assessment of their arts/guild levels/resists. ELO in a way condenses that down to 1 number and adjusts for their personal skill level too so it can be a useful assessment of who you should target. Obviously if they're using a secondary or tertiary faction then their ELO counts for nothing.

1600+ pro tier/no life
1500+ excellent
1300-1500 pretty decent
1200-1300 high average
1100-1200 average
below 1100 poor
below 1000 trash
below 900 = quit the game/bottom of the barrel noob
hey orochimaru how are you

elo is based on gameplay, since yours is based on backstabbing it will be low

cheers, snake
I don't know what you guys talk about here? Where can I find this ELO number?
The Elo only applies to CG battles. It can be found by searching your username in the link I posted in the second message.

ELO can be a good determinant to check/know whether a player is good or not, but it's not all about it. So many noobs with high ELO walking around and so many good players with low ELO playing, just because they are experimenting or going YOLO builds just to finish games quickly. You can judge people based on their stats but judging on the basis of ELO could backfire since you say you use it to know who to target first.

Also, those rating classifications you did make little sense to me. I have seen a player with ~800 ELO dishing out a healthy 70-80% winrate in duels right now and absolute noobs walking around with 1.3-1.4k ELO

A better way to understand people's skill levels would be to classify them on the basis of their overall winrates rather than ELO I'd say.
I'm surprised how many duel players there are at all times of the day now?
11 players at 8:59!!!

Have to disagree with this. Elo is not a perfect system and doesn't really translate that well to this game but it's definitely a superior system to looking at win rate in isolation.

Somebody with an Elo of 1000 and win rate of 85% against other low Elo characters is definitely not the same as somebody with 1500 Elo and 70% win rate. Elo balances for your opponent. If a player is at 800 Elo and is winning 80% of fights they won't stay at 800 for long.

Half of them probably mirror 80% of their battles. It's the easiest way to earn CG points.
Not at lv18

Are they?
(1230 lv18 + 1079 lv17) vs
(1274 lv18 + 1428 lv17).
Clearly they could have made it more balanced by swapping the two lv17s
Maybe there was some other limitation that prevented the battle from being set up that way.
This topic is long since last update and considered obsolete for further discussions.
