So no matter how many Faction levels you have, you can use 7 runes at most as you only have 7 units. Do I understand that correctly?

Can you use runes on allied units in group battles?
you can only use runes at your own units, at the start of their turn.

but if you have e.g. faction level two, that means only rune 1 and rune 2 are unlocked. So you can only use two runes each battle. (even with the talent in the middle, still only two runes per battle)

hm.. i think i said that incorrect.
With faction level 2 and the rune in the middle you can get each rune twice. So four runes per combat
im expenrimenting with a defense build, so far with good result.

my thought is to maximize defense (all pts into def, expert def) and rely on double-strike rune and madness for offense.

I tried defence builds, but decided to abandon them. Against any mages they're useless. Against battle attackers - well, maybe, sometimes... But hardly.
BTW, in defence build berserks under madness suffer twice - they don't get enough attack (as this is defensive build) and they don't benefit from defence as it is nullified and till the next turn squad is very vulnerable to physical damage.
How about hybrid build with holy magic?
I haven't built magic school yet, so I can't say anything.

As per my experience in .ru Dwarf can be very deadly in PVP but in hunt they r somewhat lags.
Holy built of dwarf act like holy magic on barb with high hp & def troops as a added benefit :)
Just found out something.

If you activate beserk rune but you kill the unit in 1 strike,the beserk rune is not wasted,instead you double attack when you hit the next unit.
No - Dwarf 12-13 lvl with +2 luck will be such monster -but with Rune of battle rage Why only 12-13 lvl? On the past war on .ru my battle partners called turn of my buffed Thanes with battle rage rune "Armageddon" couple of times due to luck befallings. But we are talking here about build as it is, not about some particularly deadly runes.

In general, my experience of playing as a dwarf says the following about runes:
1 lvl rune - very useful. Full squad of berserks hitting twice under madness might with some luck easily destroy any other squad in the game in one turn. Same for master spearmen - with some luck it either destriys of damages very seriously any other ranged squad.

2 lvl rune - very useful as well. Depending on circumstances might be used either in the first turn to destroy key enemy squads with berserks before they move, or to block ranged units, or to reach someone hardly reachable (mage's gargues etc).

3 lvl rune - used rarely. On low fraction skill levels might be poor alternative to resurrection, but in general - there are much more powerful runes to use.

4 lvl rune - useful. Stealing enemy's stoneskin before hitting with key squad might determine the battle.

5 lvl rune - useless. Even if you get needed immunity, it won't help much in PvP, as mages always have at least three magic options to destroy you and blocking two of them won't help much.

6 lvl rune - used rarely. If you send a squad into the very lore of enemies and you need it to survive as much as possible (blocking shooters, for example), then, with some luck, it might be good choice.

7 lvl rune - very useful. Of course, I'd prefer resurrection of a full squad, but 40% is quite good as well. Yet other would keep whinning it is a cheat. No, babes, cheats will be described later.

8 lvl rune - used rarely. It's success depends on how strong attacking squad is vs target squad. So for really dangerous squads you get miserable chance of success, and for minor squads - there is almost always no reason to waste rune. Let's call it last chance rune. For those, who are VERY lucky.

9 lvl rune - you wanted cheats? I've got some. Outstanding rune. Full squad of Thanes sent under this rune to the middle of the enemy army might either destroy of severely damage many squads. Fear it :)

10 lvl rune - used rarely.

lol I see you already upgraded master spearman then why asking question?

master spearman does'nt do much damage and has only 4 shots while FU has paw knock ability which is very useful and its damage output is high.

The paw knock ability of FU is very useful in nearly all types of combats.

Which update is worth it for lvl11 besides dwarven ursary? Master spearmen or mountain sentries....or both of them? On this high level when are these units useful? (PVP,HUNT)

Master spearmen better. Mountain sentries useful only in chaos build.
for snaveen: to decide upgrade FU or not. 4 shots is quite enough. Damage is not much different but paw knock ability is nice, only this ability is random. Also Fu is big unit that can be blocked. To me, more like shrews or lizard assailants.
FU is one of the best units in the game, just max it.
Spears are useful but nowhere close to bears.
What should be my recruitement for a dwarf ST?
