I am waiting miles, i am waiting for your response. |
wow this thread is still alive :o |
Sorry for my tardiness Igles, chalk it up to a general fear of the direct challenge...
So rules and guidelines you say,
I think in for fairness and randomness, someone other than us puts down a word, we have to each say what it means. Rinse and repeat. The person who put the word down decides which is the "correct" definition.
I spent a few minutes trying to find when we spontaneously did that, but to no avail, as anyone reading this without that context would see this for sure as super dull. A link would exemplify this a touch.
I guess rather than a head to head, I would think it only fair that anyone could join in, should anyone do so.
Thoughts? |
I mostly agree with the ruleset but want to add a rebuttal clause, after the first round of definitions each player gets to double down or pivot before the winner is decided. We will set the game to 5 words total. We will allow other participants to join and we will have one day per word. This thread will be the place where we will accept participation request. I will ask my good friend Danathan to preside as the moderator for the contest. The words will be decided by Danathan from all the suggestions posted here. We still need to decide stakes. I am open to suggestions on the stakes. |
Personally I prefer Filet Steak with a nice creamy mushroom sauce.
Situationally wooden ones have proven to be more effective
While a financial incentive is perhaps traditional, it is also dull.
I suggest that one wins bragging rights, and the loser gets a forfeit. Something along the lines of a humiliating activity. |
Just the way i like it, we will take a page out of merlin’s book and post a declaration of defeat and crown the winner the greatest etymologist of all time. |
Agreed then, I await the battle of words. |

wait miles we need to create a new thread, i have to do a formal post declaring the rules and inviting participation. i will do it tomorrow when i have time. |
I didn't think it was a proper thing anyway, I had 2 mins while waiting to pick my daughter up from school so posted something. Consider it a flood, of sorts |

For some definition of alive |
I recently started playing Clash of Clans again (after 10 years!) and the I'm amazed by how willing the developers have been to actually change the game. Recently, they got rid of both the cost and time to train an army, fundamentally changing how the game is played. In the last few years, there have been many additions that redo parts of the game (siege machines, hero equipment, unique events and collaborations, clan capital, magic items etc). They also found new ways of monetizing the game without compromising the f2p aspect of it (Sceneries, Hero skins, Gold pass etc). Plenty of f2p players are competitive and at the top of leagues.
They just had a wwe collaboration event for a month, where pretty much the entire game revolved around new temporary troops, and a new mechanic of army camps defending the base. It's all gone now. What's amazing is that they have setup a framework where they can do crazy things to keep the game fresh without it being frowned upon by the community.
It reminded me of a conversation I had on these forums where I suggested they rethink factions, and allow for more experimentation in pve settings (different troops, talents, spells, factions etc), and there was considerable backlash on that thread. This game doesn't like to change, and neither is an appetite for it among the players. |
They've also been reducing the upgrade times at lower levels when they add higher ones. They're trying to keep constant the time it takes for a new player to reach the highest levels. So it'll never be too late for someone to start the game.
Would you ever recommend this game to a friend now? To start with a lv1 account? |
It would have been unthinkable for me a decade ago to have a grand warden that's dressed like the undertaker. Or for the entire base to look like a WWE arena.
But that's where we are now. And the game is being positively rewarded now for having the courage to try new things. |

It saddens me to see this game have no ambition anymore. |
