I love naviron's antics in the thread. Devils advocate who plays both sides so he always comes out on top. Inspiration fr.
I wonder what came first, the idea that there should be more mini-generals to defeat or people switching sides for giggles.
Would be hilarious if Empire got the idea of making mini-generals AFTER people said they are switching sides. Killing 2 birds because this allowed other Combat Level people to feel included. |
1 3 6 2 2 = 11 |
fair |
1 3 6 2 4 = 5.5 |
That's pushing it |
+ x - / |
Huh |
22/2 = 11
22/4 = 5.5 |
You got your sum wrong, since no brackets the priority if functions would give a different answer |
So 1+3x6-2/2 actually =18
Since it is calculated as
1+(3x6)-(2/2)
Can you tell I'm bored and am actively looking for distractions...... |
Count have guessed that in a million years |
for Igles:
You expected life span does kind of mean that most of those million years would be pretty redundant.
Plus while this game has lasted longer than most may have predicted, I think a million may be pushing it. I cannot see it getting past a couple of hundred thousand you know |
Still couldn't have guessed in a million years |
Okay miles we need to get into another explanation contest when you confirm we will have a forum duel in creative works. The only rule is that we cant quit the game midway. Let us decide the guidelines and other rules and get cracking. |
Lord KilometresTeg where |
So 1+3x6-2/2 actually =18
What if it's ((1 + 3) x 6 - 2) / 2 |
Technically my post was never directly an arithmetic expression. I wrote the numbers and later I wrote the symbols. If the answer is provided, the right reasoning would be to figure out the puzzle. |
Exactly. Its meaningless to apply the convention that Miles used when the signs are separated from numbers. You cannot use parenthesis without numbers or signs, need both of them. It becomes clear brackets are unintended because that's how we arrive at the intended solution. |
When someone says add three to one, multiply by 6, subtract by 2, divide by 2, you follow the sequence.
When someone writes, 1+3x6-2/2, you use the convention.
When someone writes 1 3 6 2 2, there is no convention. |
