Which Dementia?
A. Alzheimers: The popular one, we all know this one. MRI brain shows amyloid plaques
B. Frontotemporal dementia: One with behavioral and personality changes that precede memory and cognition defects.
C. Cruzfelt (CJD) : Rapid deterioration. Uncurable. Fatal within 1 year.
D. Lewy body dementia: This one predominantly has hallucinations more than any other type. So I loved Arch lair's question. I'd save this question for the collateral.
E. Vascular dementia: Another popular type. Neurological deficits. Typically follows a stroke after chronic hypertension/diabetes or other vascular disease.
F. Pseudodementia aka Dementia secondary to major depression. This is the only one that leads to somewhat reversible dementia on the list. |
