Author | bowmen and range units in general |
when it says range what does it mean does it mean using bowmen that has 6 range mean 6x6 or what can someone explain in a picture if possible |
range 6 means that if enemy is standing not farer than 6 spaces from bowman - the bowmen will do 100% damage. And if more than 6 spaces, then only 50% damage. |
ok thanks |
I'm probable not the best artist, but well, Ms Excel can do it for me =)
Here's a legend map for shooters' range.

I used a Crossbowman for a reason, they have one extra range within 3 tiles, whence they do zounds of damage totally ignoring the stack's defense. It is the "Aimed shot" special ability, which only they possess.
The blue "within range" positioning works for any shooters.
Note that the "No ranged penalty" ability turns all white cells into blue ones =) For now, only Magi and Mercenary archers have this ability.

for Arctic:
we should put the first link in some good place where everybody can see it. :) |
It's actually very simple. Just imagine he is going to move with speed=6. The area he covers is exactly the same as the area within he shoots without penalty } |
6 This is wrong. There are 8 tiles within the Shooting range that do not enter the Movement range. The reason is, movement range is calculated by the Nival formula, while the shooting range maths obeys the Pythagoras theorem. |
I am very interested how the Pythagoras theorem is applied here? |
Explaining that here would flood the topic, as it is irrelevant to the game itself. Try to look at the picture and calculate. If you are still unable to see the theorem application there, please hit my PM. |
thanks very much |
5 We shall. |
