1) Does anybody know the link to the highest level Dark-Elf creture?

The dragon is a neutral creature, and it is going to remain one for quite a long time. It will once become allied with dark elves, as Aravil stated, but that's a subject of a whole scenario of the HWM world.
2) There is a feature called "Transfer with recall". It is just the same transfer of an item, but it lets you be sure about the artifact actually coming back to you.
When you transfer with recall, specify the time you are leasing the item for, the amount of combats that you let that player use it in (0 in your case, obviously), and do not forget to check "Repairing allowed" to let the smith process your artifact. | | Each item has link "transfer", press it - there some options.
