Hi everyone. I haven't seen a real discussion about the talents for necs on this forum. So what are your preferences.
I noticed some player go for basic eraducation and 50% mana increase, the other take basic nature magic and the improvement for revieving in the nature tree.
What are your experiences with these choices, or do you have other suggestions?

I've chosen Basic erudition, because i think that with the later 50% mana increase, i won't need to spend points for knowledge for a while, so i will be able to increase my atk and def.
But I think Basic defense is also a good choice, leading to vitality. +2 HP for skeletal bowmen and ghosts can be great. But this way is more expensive... |
What about the resurrection, if my stacks have more hp then i will revieve less numbers, i thought about vitality too but i couldn't made up my mind if it was worth it.
Or is the resurrecting skill not that important in later lvl's? |
I didn't think about that... So if you take vitality, you'll have to increase spell power... |
i took erudition to have 5 knowledge and 1 spell power so that i can raise one more vamp. but i think mana increase is great, and if u add more hp to troops, like ghosts, it'll be much harder to raise, and your most powerful weapon becomes less effective. |
basic defense + barrier is a better option than vitality. What is worse for a wizard than hitting a ghost with 50% evade and 20% magic shield? |

necro wasnt design the be defensive. why bother invest in defense talant which cost you alot point? :)
i prefer basic nature in early for necro to boost your raise dead :) |
necro's talents sucks.
no fortune,no offense,too expensive defense,dark-magic should be powerful but until u get lv10 or higher,nature-magic maybe cool but its braches are too few and when we cant change our talents for free i dont think there's anyone would choose that. |

How expensive are they? As a DE my moral boost is 10 points, and to get just a few more units (I have the least on the field as is) is another 10...Lowest I saw was 8 points in one talent pool. |
well for necro to gain basic defence it's 11 points....however if you are a knight your basic defence is only 7 points... how does that work? :) |
It doesn't. At 5 talent points per level - starting from level 3 - the whole talent system is pointless anyway. Many talents except most basic ones are forever out of reach. But I understand the pain of Necromancers. Setting up a talent branch at 11 point each is a rude way of telling "you can't afford it." |
The cost difference between races are easy explained:
if a thing has low cost means it's "your branch" <-- choose it
if it costs a lot means it isn't "your branch" <-- avoid it.
i.e. i'm a knight, and i will surely go down straight the morale, and defence branch for 2 main reasons:
1) Low cost
2) Morale and defence are the main strengh of knights.
I didn't looked a lot on other races wheel, but i suppose they were made balance... >> I suppose <<

Well I think the necs talents are not that helpful you have 4 trees out of 5 for magic, but honestly there is hardly a spell worth its mana except the raise dead.
The 3 other nature spells are simply rubbish you will never do much damage with magic fist nd wasp swarm, who ever used that one. Phantom sounds cool: "Hey now i can replicate one of my stacks amybe the bowmen", but if you read again it needs only 1 hit and they are gone, every hero ore single bowunit could kill them with 50% and thats not talking about damage spells which will hit automaticly.
I'm not that sure about darkness magic yet but to use these spell efficient you got to have a good spellpower and since until lvl 5 I actually only increased wisdom (which I need for having enough ressurections) spellpower doesn't lokk that good on my part.
So I have no spells to damage enemies, I have no spells to make my troops better and efficiently I don't even have a talent to improve my troops cause the defensive tree might be interesting for a nec, but if I have to reach lvl8 to get my second talent in this specific tree that simply take to freaking long. And the spells for making my enemy less good simply don't last long enough. |
Its a joke to complain about Spells being bad, when you have 0 Spellpower.
Its simply, that a Necro needs 5-6 Knowledge to start of, after that you gain Spellpower and so the Duration Spells will become usefull.
They are just not meant to be Cast with SP 0 or 1. |
indeed. And necromancer units are made weak because he can resurrect them. In fact a necromancer relies on resurrecting his units. Without it he will not win. Where does he get the time to cast something else but raise dead? Or how can he even afford to waste any mana on casting something that does less damage than his units can do? The only viable talents for necro are those that enhance the raise dead spell. It is a boring fact. |
Magic Punch is quite useful for me at L6.
With 60 Mana+ Additional from Spirit Link, I can easily afford to push out Magic Punches, when there is nothing to Rez. |
