Author | Once again...death by luck / morale |
Because I enjoy stimulating debate, and because since starting to play this game I have been completely disenchanted with the unbalanced effects of morale and luck, I am going to say that this fight was lost (or won) because of the very significant number and timing of the victor's luck and morale hits.
Any opinions?

why do u create another 'same' topic? |
Agreed.
U wanna change fraction now?
Wizard is juz not so gd for thief.
No choice since they have talent for luck and morale and be ablr to use it.
worse if u meet DE w luck and morale(Shrews kill faster^^)
Bottom line is they have that's their advantage since the system let's them tigger so many times esp morale plus luck plus favoured enemy if it was a elf hero.
Tiggers almost every other unit.
Sad isn't it.
I wish we have morale^^
(this is not a suggestion) |
I do beg your pardon. Please don't ban me. And do you have anything to say related to the topic? |
btw (4) was meant for aru
Stevelawler - I just wish morale and luck didn't happen so often! (not a suggestion) ^^ |
lol |
for StorminMerlin:
Which fraction u hate to meet in an ambush as a wizard? |
7)
Hmm I think barbarian, but I can honestly say I have no problems beating any other faction even when they have full arts....unless those arts give at least +2 morale / luck! So DE are bad too...elves can be killed off more quikly with magic than knights
What do you think? |

aru is not a moderator, he can't ban you ;)
anyway, the way to counter it is to also have big morale and luck
after all, why do you think it is called "luck"? |
9)
lol yes, but my point is that they are too powerful.
I mean, luck happens, morale happens...these things are the unpredictable part of battle...
I mean, a warrior might trip over their own shoelace just before he hits with his sword, thus hitting his enemy where he wasn't expecting it...
...or a warrior might be so hyped-up and bloodthirsty that he suddenly finds himself running twice as fast as normal...
These things should rightly be accounted for in the game, but the current algorithms give luck and morale more effect on the battle than any other single factor. |
Well, if equal arts
I'd hate to meet demon of cos since I'm necro.
or DE, Shrews is too fast w morale and luck plus no ret adn high inti
Lol |

maybe... but in lv 14 battle at .ru i saw atk > luck
because the 1st attacker usually can do 1 hit kill to the targetted stack
no matter they got luck or not |
12)
Right, so imagine if this guy then had a morale hit too |
lol |
Wat if Shrew w morale boost^^
definately make u mad:) |
a combat is not a game of cards, it is not normally decided mostly by random factors. At least this battle wasn´t, you should try to learn from losses and not blame it all on factors "outside your control".
Some hints: your setup: wrong-> split magi, your first cast on swordman: totally wrong-> the swordman unit it the one with the least dmg potential/hp of all the knights troops.
U claim u can win against almost all opponents even with full arts? That should at lvl 8 include 2 morale or luck rings more often than not, if your claim is true that this factors happen too often, then shouldn´t u always lose?
just my 2 cents |

It's true he made a few mistakes in tat match too.
but anyway, I meet a wizard in my ambush anyday then a demon^^
But I also agree tat its part and parcel of the game, lol
Y did I chose to be a necro in the 1st place??? |
same topic with https://www.lordswm.com/forum_messages.php?tid=1844290
hei, StorminMerlin, do u know how to play a game? Just look at everybody's victory log (lvl 5 above). do they have 100% winnings? is that 'win' title u want? a game has 3 ways : win, draw, and LOSE.
So, you better accept your lost and not complaining at all time. (at least i know u complain twice. lol)
Any opinions?
Yeah, do u know why they call it LUCK? cos, u have to be lucky. i once battle with +2 luck but it's more often than +4 luck. i forgot which battle cos it was a while ago. |
The trigger statistics of this combat:
griffins - 4 morale out of 14 turns, 3 luck out of 12 strikes
monks - 2/6, 1/6
swordsmen - 2/7, 0/3
upper xbows - 2/8 3/9
lower xbows - 1/6 2/8
I'm really failing to see how is this abnormal (well except the upper xbows luck - was a little too high). StorminMerlin, you o realize that your mechanical and elemental creatures do not have morale, don't you? Certain factions have a better affinity for these parameters, than others - that is why they use artifacts to increase them. If you dislike not being able to use them, why are you still playing as a Wizard? Switch to Elf then, their troops die of a sneeze, but they output zounds of damage thanking first and foremost to luck and high initiative, sometimes combined with morale.
It is part of the game, just as your spell power, just as the defense you get from Laborers' guild - other players do not have so much. It's the amount of different factors all of which affect combats that makes the game so diverse. |
