AuthorResurrected Death Envoy mixed with Wolf Raiders
Hi,

During my last ambush against a Necromancer caravan, an odd situation occurred. I destroyed a single big stack of Death Envoys and tried to prevent them from being raised by putting a unit on top - but a corner of Wolf Raiders on one of the four squares of the Death Envoys' corpses.

It didn't prevent the Necromancer hero to raise them, and they only occupied three squares on the battlefield!

Another detail, Wolf Raiders were not able to attack the Death Envoys from their position. I had to "move them out" of the Death Envoys in order to strike them.

someone told me that to avoid that you need to step on the upper-left corner of the creature. but i'm not really sure. also happened to me once. after that happened i don't step on large creature when ambushing caravan
Yeah, what iron_eagle said...I too have been told to only step on the upper left corner to avoid it. It hasn't ever happened to me when I do that so I guess that works.

In a way, if you think about it, it makes sense too because usually we can only cast spells on large creature when we target the upper left corner; for all other corner, the wand doesn't show up. I'm not sure if you've noticed that or played a faction which can cast those type of spells, but just thought you might want to know. :)
i can cast magic arrow on the bottom-right corner of the creature, so not only on upper left corner, but i don't know about raising, but i saw 1 thing that is same between kotrin's battle, xinj's and mine.
every raise dead, when there are 2 dead stacks then its random to raise which one right? in those 3 battles there is a dead stack(vamp) on the upper-left corner of dead large creature, so probably the caravan was going to raise that small stack, but because its random, it raises large creature instead. maybe high level necro can do the same in group battle/duel
i agree with iron_eagle about what happened i have seen were someone is trying to raise a ghost or vamp and they raise one zombie instead

Iron_eagle - it is not random. It raises the stack with highest hitpoints. So the death Envoy is revived when on same square as vampires. What is the most ussual when you want to revive ghost with 8 hitpoints, zombies are ressurected because they have 17 HP.

Oh, it's not a problem of battle - I won this ambush anyway - but simply a bug I wanted to report to admins.

If only the upper left square "counts" for that matter, so be it. But I feel that under these circumstances Death Envoys should not have been resurrected, the same way you need four free squares to deploy any large unit during deployment.
