AuthorFree hunting assists
I did a little experiment yesterday. I started in hunt assists I was helping in by saying for us lev 5 and up it sure is expensive now. And 100% of the times the assisted person agreed. That was the bait, then came the trap. I asked if they could split the hunt with me or at least spare 50 gold. Oh My God, all of a sudden I was the anti-christ or somethin. Share gold, what evil talk is this! I use to assist all the time back when I was able to do it for free, meaning artless. I now have adopted that I will give half of the hunt assist money since arts aren't free and do unto others and all that good stuff. I will leave the names of the cheapskates out of this thread but you know who you are. I've made notes so that I will not assist them. I know I choose to assist, but commen decency would be to at least give a miniscule 50 gold for someone who went out of their way to help a fellow hero. The experience and racial is not worth it to me to do a free assist to anyone especially when the assist proves fruitless monetarily over and over again. So what say the rest of you Heroes?
if you feel the exp and racial is not worth it then don't do hunt assist. it's simple as that. just wait for your own hunt in 40-60 minutes.
As much as I would like to give people some gold for helping me in hunts I regretfuly dont. Things are expensive nowadays and for me even moreso now that I am thieving. If I was to give gold to people who did help then I would expect to be given gold in return when I helped but sadly this is not the case. (Karma seems to have very bad lag XD). I still offer my help as I see the 90ish gold spent to gain some fsp and hp to be a worthy investment. The fact that no one pays me is fine as I can easily understand why.
If your HG is too high, and all your hunts seems to be red or red!, then hunts assists is still one of the ways for you to improve your HG. So, you will be paying 100 gold or so to increase your HG by 0.1. Also, don't forget that you have a chance to obtain hunters arts in hunt assists.

Generally, it is fine for me to do hunt assists, as long as I think the chances of winning is high, and the hunter is not on my secret blacklist. :)
I'm considering paying people 50 gold to invite me in hunts. I think I'm lucky when it comes to loots and now that I'm level 5 in Hunter's guild I'll have the chance to loot Greater Hunter arts. And on top of that I'll be gaining .1 guild points without using up my own hunt reserves... but I need to finish my Thief guild contract first. XD
Aw, sorry. I used the wrong account to post... XD

Dude your not even at level 5 yet so come back once you know what your talkin about seeing as I DO wait for my hunts and don't assist unless it is a friend or someone who has agreed to split with me already. So, shhhh

@3
well your a thief anyways, who expects a thief to give money back! I'm just kiddin. At least it is on your concious to want to if you could. And though I am level 5 I think I am still a newbie until I get to level 7 when all features of the game have been available and there is nothing new to you for the most part except for levels and creatures. So I could be wrong about it not being worth is. You are a higher level than me so it is something to think about.

the thing is why does it seem like taboo to even mention it in a hunt. Maybe it will take some getting use to the idea but it is a good one, if we all gave to each other for help, I don't see what is so bad about it. What is bad is that everyone is so stingy. I've read in a thread before that someone had to wait 3 hours for an assist, or maybe someone told me they waited that long in a hunt but either way people might not be assisting as much as they know that noone will give them money to help. For all those reading this let it be known that I will.
Level 5 folks are hit hardest by the AP rule, they have the least Hunter (poor loots) and Labor (low income) guild levels. It's understandable that they'd be reluctant to part with their gold at that stage. I think it's going to change when you gain more levels...
well I am level 5 and I am willing to part with money that I might not have gotten in the first place if not for assist. People ask for assist becuase they don't think they can win on their own. Kiz did make a valid point about the POSSIBILITY to get hunter arts, but when you can hunt and then merc, also doing assist accumulates on your durability. I just think I should be customary to show a token of appreciation to someone who is HELPING you.
Well, customs aren't always followed. I do see a considerable number of people giving me share of the gold for hunt assists but I think I'm one of those with high karma. Back when I still asked for help I always give share of loot to those assisting me. I don't hold it against people for not sharing but it's nice to get those tokens of appreciation.
I think you got it all wrong. Because of the new rules it's expensive for everyone to hunt. This is like asking a starving person to share what little food he has. It doesn't matter that you're starving too. The other guy emphasizes and understands, but you just can't force the poor guy to give up his tiny bit of gold.

Before the new rules I shared my hunt gold many times and although I didn't get back gold that much, at least I got some. Now with the new rules no one has ever sent me any gold.
But it would be a perfect world if people did share and made it a custom like when someone sneezes and another says God bless you. It is not mandatory but a understood thing. Who is gonna complain for getting gold? We love it , but to give it, I don't see the big deal. And to use the exampe given by Pantheon, a starving man goes on a quest to get food but can't do it alone so he askes for help, would he not share a morsel to the helpler? The helper would most likely kill, given if it were that dire of need to eat. I am making a deal of the money becuase it won't kill the person to help. Now I know this is not real life but in real life when you ask someone to help you usually it is a service provided that requires payment up front. Here it is if you win, can you not share a piece of it? Let me get a chiken wing, I don't want the breast or even thigh, how about a drum stick!
We have to face it as it is, the AP-rule surely cut hunt assists down. Before this rule I gladly helped often in assists (maybe around 4+ a day). Nowadays I always check before I join if the hunter shares his loot. Cause frankly I have costs too if I help him and no sry the reward is much to low.

Exp to racial skill is not a good ratio and 0.1 Hunters Guild is just laughable.

And about the starving person all I have to say is, that hunts are not an appropiate way to earn money, it is simply dwarfed by the ammount you get from work.

If you ask for help you should at least be willing to pay for the helpers arts.
I only do hunts assists when im bored and dont have any merc quests / hunts / ambush to do
FINALLY!!!!!!
Ranor you have come to "assist" me!
I thought I was alone in this. granted there are benefits but since I started this game I have only gotten a hunter art once from an assist and I am now level 5.
Also I too did not think that 0.1 was worthy of help.

@14
well while I guess that is good to know what you do when your bored, where do you stand as far as for or against giving money for assist?
I do never give money, and most of the time i dont care if they pay me or not
Only when I really need some gold i ask for it, and only 50% of the time they give it :P, but its just 50 gold... who cares...
Well all I have to say is that every bit counts. Yeah maybe since I don't have 100,000 gold, not saying you do, I might be wantin some money but not really. I am not super well off but I got enough to get what I need to get. Say you assisted ten times, well you are pretty high level so lets say at least 50 times, that is at 50gold, 2500. Now if that don't mean nothin to ya well hey buddy, send me , no let me not go there with that joke, don't want to get banned for begging even though I am joking. Anyways what I am saying is just like you said, its just 50 gold... who cares... so then give it.
i give 40% of the gold i make on hunts to who ever asks. If they don't ask i don't give it to them. Its not a large price to pay. The person is helping u and decreasing the durability of their artifacts.
for #18
You are officially on my buddy list since we are both level 5. And I can appreciate that. If the person doesn't ask then maybe they don't care and that is their perogative. I think it is smart to ask cuz all they can do is say no and then just don't help them again. Mark it in the secret little blacklist.
Hi,

I think the same as Lucid, it will be a perfect world if everybody shares, but the capitalism exist (lol). IMO, if everybody share's, then u will be winning money, or at least dont losing, even when u dont do so much helping.
When u ask for assistance, u r facing u cant win alone, so if u get 100 gold i.e., and u share, u r still keeping 50, which is always better than 0 if u lose. I thinkg is the fairest thing, since u will be getting anything without helping.
In the other hand, u cant oblige anyone to do the same as u, just predice with the example. I share 50-50 with ppl who shares too, and I dont pay ppl saying he doesnt share at all. If the profile doesnt specify anything, i will pay 25-30%, for covering expenses of helper dude.
If i see someone is calling for help, i check his profile first. If he doesnt share, i will not go, and if not specify, i will help depending on other factors.
In fact, the think is everybody has his reasons for playing or fighting, so u just can expect ppl paying u always.
