Author | Battle Fury Talent or Cold Blade Talent? |
Which one do you prefer? | cold blade for DE. battle fury for demon | battle fury for knight. | cold blade is overall good.
battle fury is better for those with stable dmg such as goblin, imps and so on. | for Pang:
i thought it was mainly good if there were alot of stacks. like 72 homgoblins. or 72 indens or something | Heh, to throw in the loop, do you prefer 20% melee damage, or 10% and 15% cold blade?
^^
I keep playing with my talents. Not sure what to do :P | You have to compare talents depending on situation and for every creature. Here is some basic analysis for DE creatures at level 10:
Shrew has 5-7 damage, so average is 6. With battle fury you get 6-8 damage , average becomes 7 and that represents a 16.67% increase. So for shrews battle fury is better than cold blade and the advanced offense of course.
Minos ( both Tamed and Soldiers ) have 4-7 damage, average is 5.5. With battle fury the damage becomes 5-8 and the average is 6.5 so the increase is 18.2% in damage.
Lizard Cavalry does 7-12 damage, average is 9.5. With battle fury it becomes 8-13 and new average is 10.5 so increase is 10.5%.
Hydra do 7-14 damage, average is 10.5. With battle fury it becomes 8-15, new average is 11.5 so the increase in dmg done is 9.5%.
We should also keep in mind that Cold Blade gives 15% extra water magic damage, which though is getting mitigated by magic proof. For example when fighting golems, Cold Blade gives +7.5% damage, when fighting Modern golems +3.75% damage and when fighting Unicorns it gives +10.5% damage. Also gets affected by barbarian hero + caravan magic resistance.
So the choice really depends on how you expect the fight to proceed and what units you expect to do the most damage during the fight. If you want to be perfect you should be changing talents very often. A few examples:
1) The shrew hit and run tactic hunts on huge amounts of slow creatures: only shrew damage really matters then so the best combination is clearly basic attack + battle fury.
2) When fighting caravans there is a high chance you get something with resistance to cold blade ( Caravan of Barbarians, Wizards, Elves ) so in general battle fury probably wins again as an average best.
3) When hunting say genies you can expect your shrews to die first by poison and attacks and the battle is usually decided by the damage of Lizards and Hydras, so in this case Cold Blade is better if you use max Lizards recruiting. If you use max mino soldiers then i guess battle fury is better overall in any case, since minos get a very big benefit out of it
You can do the math for each case along the above line in general, though usually it gets down to battle fury > cold blade > (+10% more damage) for a DE.
A similar analysis has to be done regarding whether you get rally or not depending on combat ( it's either rally + 2 offense talents or no rally + 5 offense talents configurations ) but those mathematics clearly don't belong in this thread :P | For ambushes I prefer the rally ^^
But very informative, Jabbar! I also thought that with battle fury I was doing more damage than with cold blade--and I tinker with my talents all the time, usually the only reason why I lose battles against NPCs hehe.
Cheers,
LS | Yes for ambushes rally is pretty much essential since it gives a lot more hit points that are much needed. | closed by limustudotcom (2009-01-26 19:27:53) |
