Increase the workforce of some Factories.

AuthorIncrease the workforce of some Factories.
I thought it was only the followers of Abbathor who put the values of greed and hoarding above all others.

No... I'm sure they are followers of Waukeen. The economy cannot sustain itself if there is no trade and there is no demand-supply force. It's necessary, it's lawful even. It's only Chaotic if the traders do not follow rules. Market Forces is a rule and a balancing force upon itself. Go ask Torm.

No I am not missing your point. You are trying to change the angle of mine. For starters my angle is not a selfish one. I also have no personal interest in Reprisal Swords.

There were 8 rings on the market a few hours ago, and only 5 last night. So yes there is a shortage.

Your selective memory is not helping.

The mercury crisis continued long after the Lighthouse, and was only resolved by introducing a new Mercury facility. And note I'd be happy with a few new factories too, but was going for the minimalist approach ie increase production by a small number per hour to meet the demand.

Cheers
You may have not selfish intentions, but it's still daring to declare your personal perception a general problem.

A shortage means to me that an item is completely unavailable at a certain time or even all the time and it doesn't really matter whether there are 5 or 8 at the market.

And you keep constantly evading a very important question, these people who sell items at the market manage to by them in the factory, so why can't you?

The problem was that the existing lab was not at full capacity, adding new labs just lead to mercury piling up at the labs.

Isn't Waukeen still imprisoned by Grazzt???

Waukeen likes merchants, likes trade and likes markets. Abbathor likes to do away with the competition.

Good now we are getting somewhere.

Firstly this is in the suggestions section of the forum ie where I have been invited to give my opinion and my suggestion and my recommendation. And it is a general problem.

Yes the rings and the swords can be purchased at the factories, but are often snapped up within a few seconds, and many people miss out. Their alternative is to buy from the market. As the market has no competition from the factory like other items do, the market price is considerably higher than the factory price. Which means many people buy the items from the factory with no intent to use them, knowing if the factory has no stock, that they have heavily reduced competition ie the hoarding. <Hoarders don't necessariy hoard for personal consumption>.

So the easiest solutions to end the shortages are to increase employment at the factories so extra units are produced or introduce new factories.

Problem: Shortages, made worse by exploiters.
Solution: Greater production.
Difficulty to understand: Easy

Nope, Waukeen is a servitor power under Amaunator, the re-born Lathander. She was freed long ago. More than 100 years ago...

Abbathor is dwarven and the exarch of Bane. His portfolio is of Greed. Abbathor's corruption of trade does not in anyway diminish the domain of Waukeen nor does it negate the fact that Trade and Commerce is a neutral force.

Attack the greed all you want, but I don't think changing how trade happens or affecting the demand-supply curve is going to solve the problem
I am not wanting to change how trade happens. I just want extra production of items in short supply.

100 years of game time = change from 3.5 to 4.0. Now when did 4th ed come out?

I wonder if Bane is happy with his new foot stool.

Cheers
Imo, increase production slots only when there are events, and reduce them back to how it is right now when events are over, since there isn't any form of severe artifact or resource shortage during these 'normal' times.
Now when did 4th ed come out?

the best way to solve the shortage, is to find a good smith :P
such as for the ring, the market price means even a 70% repair with 80% pay give u a cheaper ring.
they r so many blacksmith with good bargain for 70% with 70%.
join a clan or find a smith friend b4 complain.

Well, I tried to buy some rings of inspiration and got 4 in 2 shifts, so anyone who tells me they're impossible to get at the factory is not really trying.

Problem: Shortages, made worse by exploiters.

And that's where I disagree, if everything was meant to be available in abundance, we wouldn't have stock sizes in the first place, everything would just be there all the time, but since we have stock sizes it's meant to be 0 at times and interventions will only happen if a real shortage disturbs gameplay (and not if some are mildly inconvenienced).
fusei, u do have a good connection.

I'm using 3M DSL, well, and i could only get 1 ring luckily.
1/3 chance i got nothing.

during the offpeak time, say, 500 online, it's much easier to get ring or sword.
agreed with fusei.

the ring is for full art play, not for minimum ap requirement.

if one is an active player and use full art a lot, he should have smith friends or try their luck at facility a lot.

then the shortage won't be a problem.
fusei, u do have a good connection.

I think the ping is most important, I have above 200 ms so it's not really this good.
LOL, you have been talking about the shortage all day, until you made the fusei come back to the artifact grabbing, now nobody shall be able to get anything until fusei fills her inventory, so there will be a workplace raise after all. :-)

Myrtle I am sorry, but according to my calculations even with 90% repair it is still not worth it to repair ordinary arts.

Interesting fact about this topic is, that the main problem doesnt seem to be the fact that there are people that cant buy the swords/rings, but the evil guys who can buy them and resell them for the +5% value, main impact on player is that the rings of inspiration will raise from 90/battle to about 100-105/battle.

So if this whole topic is about jealousy, I can write here 10 other methods how to earn money that are nearly crossing the rules, but they dont.
Omega22, most 70% repair gay dont charge u 100% pay,

u can recalculate 70% repair with 80% cost to pay, or with friends only to pay 70% cost.

for guys with 90% repair, 100% pay is still cheaper than market.

so smith is a way for the "shortage".

u can check some famous smiths' transfer log. a lot of guys repair their inspiration rings.
to Omega22:
When someone waves this topic in front of my eyes like this, how can you expect me not to get hungry. ^-^
myrtle are you counting with the item decrease of full durability(because it lowers the selling price for the empty item)?

I have stopped repairing my things because it was a bit cheaper to resell them with full durability than to have them repaired, and them sell them for a lower price.
Perhaps we should do some recalculations and discuss it later. Perhaps with a defender shield. I will write something at forum or through pm when I have a valiable outcome.

Of course there is no doubt 90% repair with 100% charge is still better than market during shortages, but I dont think it is cheaper now. Have to recalculate(my numbers have gone away somewhere)
agreed with fusei.

Errr nice shade of grey, but no. It's not economical for at least most players, and the wait time can be annoying too. Rings of Morale have 18 durability and many players like to be "greedy" and use 2 of them, so there is a high turnover of rings of morale. It would be nice if production levels would support this.

So if this whole topic is about jealousy,

Omega22, do you suffer Bi-Polar, conscious retardation or a fish oil deficiency? These are honest and deserving questions as curious kittens have better intuition than you. Keep your implied smears to yourself!

This topic is about shortages, reducing those shortages, and highlighting the type of player that makes the problem worse. Now what delusion gets you to conclude jelousy from that!

Cheers
hey, this topic is truely about jealous.

they r just ppl hoarding on a certain artifact, which is not in shortage, but not in abundance either.

ur thread just called fusei back. she gets 2 ring each shift.
no one else could buy more. that's the really "shortage"!
