Author | Some Enchantment Queries - Hopefully from an Enchant Expert |
Please note I may have some follow up questions.
I am trying to strategise ahead with these questions. And I know very little about Enchanting, Enchanting Costs, item transfers and whether the enchantment remains after an item repair.
I am trying to develop an Arcane Build for a Dark elf, and I want to optimise certain offenses and defences for an 8th Level Dark Elf.
My priorities are these
1. For offense I want to maximise Earth and Air Magic with enchantments. (I also would like an alternative for Earth and Water optimisation)
2. For defence I want to maximise protection from Ranged Attack, followed by Air/water Magic
3. Suggested enchantment ideas for remaining items would be appreciated.
1. What elements do I need for these optimisations, how many, and what are the approximate costs?
2. When an item with enchantments is repaired, are the enchantments diminished?
3. If I want an enchantment done, and someone agrees to do it for me, how do I send the artifact and elements?

If you are going for an arcane build, you will need jewellery enchantments
Weapon enchantments increase melee damage by adding elemental damage. Armour enchantments provide defence against elemental damage. Only Jewellery enchantments help spell damage.
1a) I'll first give a list of the elemental combinations and effects on jewellery: (Jewellery = rings, signets, all sorts of necklaces and pendants, gloves and cloaks & capes)
* 2% earth magic spell damage bonus; 1% ignore air shield for every Meteorite Shard + Tiger's Claw pair of elements used
* 2% air magic spell damage bonus; 1% ignore earth shield for every Windflower + Meteorite Shard pair of elements used
* 2% water magic spell damage bonus; 1% ignore fire shield for every Ice Crystal + Witch's Bloom pair of elements used
* 2% fire magic spell damage bonus; 1% ignore water shield for every Fire Crystal + Abrasive pair of elements used
* 2% nature magic spell efficiency bonus for every Windflower + Tiger's Claw pair of elements used
This means that for each listed pair of elements used in the enchantment, you get 2% increase of effectiveness (damage, hit points affected) and 1% reduction of a specific defence (except Nature)
Thus if you want to maximise Earth and Air Magic with enchantments and an alternative for Earth and Water optimisation. You should have one jewellery item enchanted with Earth and Air and another with both Earth and Water. |

Thankyou Takesister
Lets do some math here (someone please correct me if I am wrong)
To optimise I can enchant 4 items
Ring
Ring
Necklace
Cloak
At maximum enchantment level 3 I can place 4 enchantments on each item. Under Enchanters branches I can do a maximum of 10% for each enchantment.
So doing a 50/50 optimisation of earth and air requires the following
4 (items) X 5 (to reach 10%) X 2 (1/2 of 4 enchantment slots per item) Meteorite shard & Tigers Claw
4 (items) X 5 (to reach 10%) X 2 (1/2 of 4 enchantment slots per item) Meteorite shard & Windflower
Therefore I need
80 Meteorite Shards (at approx 2900gp each) or 232000gp
40 Tiger Claws (at approx 6500gp each) or 260000gp
40 Windflowers (at approx 4400gp each) or 176000gp
Total: 668000 gp
and I get
+ 80% damage with Air and Earth Spells
+40% protection from air and earth spells
Now that is a costly exchange, and that does not include the cost of what someone would charge to perform that service, and for any other cost I am not aware of.
At a guess to optimise all of your equipment the total cost could end up well over 1 500 000 gp (just for the elements).
Comments on these calculations would be welcome

Thankyou very much. You are a gem. :)
This game is a never ending struggle.
My goals are to
1. Save for a Thief Artifact (I'm in that process now)
2. Max myself with Uber Arts (the reason for this discussion) at Level 8 to crush my enemies mercilessly. (this will certainly take me longer than I originally conceived)
3. Start my own Guild (with 2 concepts not yet applied by any other player, so there would be some uniqueness to it)
4. Develop my enchanting and repair experience trees.
Maybe in 2 years time I can get to goal 3. LOL

Most enchanters do not charge full price for the enchantments done. Most even PAY you back if you send them all the elements for the enchantments. Have a look at the list of people providing the service and their rates here:

Example:
Post by Yur4uk "Jewelcrafting 10%... i GIVE you 1500 per % !!!!!"

no one here can enchant that much % yet, highest is lv 6, so 14%
and some enchanters rebate you with gold if you send them arts and elements for enchantment
plus probably there is no need for earth enchantment
so should probably cost you lesser |
You have provided some very valuable advice Takesister. So much so that I am rethinking this.
Apparently I cannot have multiples of the same enchantment on an item, and if I have multiples of the same enchantment on different items, the effect is not cumulative.
