I was just watching a wizard hunt and I noticed that when the hero cast lightming, it only cost him 4 mana instead of 5. Is there some kind of talent that reduces the mp cost of spells like that?

Lorekeepers. Of course, I totally forgot about their special ability: Intellectual vigour, which reduces mana cost for the hero by 25%.
