Just a quick question regarding upgrading Military academy.
Is it best to recruit poisoners immediately at lvl 5, or is it better to wait till later lvl's?

I'd say, if you have the money for it and still have enough for needs (such as artifacts) then it's a good investment because poisoners are good for taking retaliation for lizard cavalry.
However, if you are low on resources, then you can afford to wait as poisoners aren't that high on the priority list. |
your priority on upgraded troops should be
1.shrews
2.posioner (mainly to take lizard retaliation)
3.minotaur soliders or lizard assilants(your call here)
if can buy diamonds use gold for posioner and diamond on shrew. |
I would put it like this.
1. shrews, duh
2. Lizard assailants, but thats many months until then, must need for hunting, raids and monsters.
3. soldiers important to level 10 thieving, impossible without
4. poisoners. as mentioned pretty good if u have money, after level 10 they are useless. |

The general consensus is that poisoners are not high on the priority list. Buy them if you have lots of extra gold.
Poisoners do 1 poison damage per poisoner in the stack for 2 rounds. But you would rather have more of the other units than have many poisoners, since you would do more damage with 1 more mino/rogue/etc than with a couple of poisoners.
Artifacts are a better investment than the poisoners, though they will depreciate, so it's your call |
Definitely get the upgrade at level 5. You should have the necessary resource. It doesn't cost that much, and poisoners will be useful until you get the mino upgrade, much, much later.
But even later on, you would still want to have poisoners. That's because poisoners, unlike bandits, have a slightly better initiative than lizards, which means that if you have a couple of 1-poisoner stacks, they can go first and take retaliation for your lizards.
Yeah they're lousy shooters, but they have no melee penalty, so treat them as melee units, with shooting as a backup ability. |
| as a melee unit posioners arent bad either like #8 said. you should never use them as shooters only as a melee unit that can attack before lizards thus taking retalition. |
