Merc Quest Time Limit

Hi all,

I was just wondering if there's anything wrong with the time we are given for the quest.

I accepted a MQ earlier, and was told I had 3 tries and 180 minutes to complete it. I went straight to my destination and fought once. I lost. Then, I knew it was one of the harder quest, so I decided to wear full arts and try it again. In the meantime, since I thought I had time, I did a hunt, and also assisted a friend in his hunt.

Now, I'm pretty sure all this didn't take THREE hours to do, but since I was at Yellow Lake, I thought I would drop in at the merc guild to check how much time I have left. Imagine my surprise when I was told something like "all the villagers died" and I faile the quest!

So my Q is -

- Is there something wrong with the 'timer' of the MQ?

- Or as soon as u report back to the merc guild page, the system will automatically consider u as fail even thought u have tries and time left?

There is nothing wrong with the timer and to the best of my knowledge, reporting back to the merc guild page when you still have attempts left will not cause you to fail.
um, can you specify which quest you are talking about:

i can see army of necro {2}, army of knight {0} and army of elf {0} in your 1st page. and all of those you finished in a single attempt.

the only one you lost a renegade magician raid for which you get a single attempt only.

this doesn't add up from your battle logs.

the usual time for quests is 2 hours.
army quests are given 3,4 and 5 hours depending on the number of attempts.
the number of attempts in turn depend on {x} level of quest.

also if you are unsure, you can click MG on the map to see the time left.

also the timer script is really useful to keep track of deadline.
the only one you lost a renegade magician raid for which you get a single attempt only.

This is the one. I did it once, lost, and wanted to go back and try again after my sequence of 1x hunt and 1x assist. Even if the quest is 120 minutes, I highly doubt if I exceeded that time..
well apart from armies, you don't get a 2nd try to do any other quest.

you must accept it again from the guild (as and when it appears) and then do the job as a totally new quest.

IOf u read my first post, I didnt try again, coz when since I was in Yellow Lake, I thought I would go to the guild to see how much time I had left. That was when I found out I failed the mission. :/

Looking at my combat log -

06-06-09 15:46: money47[7], Jedi-Knight[7] vs Zombies (321)

you would noticed the time I took to fight my 1st quest, and the time I was ambushed, assisted money47 in a hunt, and did my own hunt (with sub), it was all less than 1 hour. So how could I have timed-out for the quest.. :/

Ahh, that could be possible... that I had only 1 try. So does anyone knows how many tries does one get for Renegade magicians-raid {0}?

Then it must be the number of tries, and not the time, that is the issue here.
Look, what we are trying to say is that ONLY "Army of XXX" quests are multiple tries. The Raids are single tries only.

Thus when you returned to the MG, the quest was a fail since you had lost it already.
_ALL_ quest apart from army quests are _SINGLE_ attempts only
if you lose irrespective of the time limit, you lose the quest

only for armies you get more than one attempt.

read the merc quest faq for details.
