Author | melee penalty on xbow? |
Does it really work?? I found these men pretty painful even in hand to hand combat, just one example:
48 xbows attacking an enemy in range (not less than 3 tiles but less than 6):
Crossbowmen deal 112 damage to Ogres. 2 perish.
The same xbows, but now 39 and hittin the same enemy in melee:
Crossbowmen deal 104 damage to Ogres. 2 perish.
well, retrieving that the stack has less numbers, they hit even harder. And i found things like that pretty usually.
Here's the link for the entire battle of the example if u find it useful:

any clue, hint, opinion...??
thx | There damage is 2-8
The chances are they hti losest damage. | melle attack is in their 3x3 range:) So defence=0 for enemy.I'm not quite sure about that>.> | yeah, i already thoght about the range 2-8, but if the melee penalty is 50% (correct me if wrong), then they have to hit with 2-3 damage on the first place, and then 7-8 in the melee attack to be equal or greater... too much coincidence IMO, bcuz i found this to happen very usual, at least in PvP.
if it happens what lik says... well i thinke it can be considered as a bug :S
thx | I dunno about xbows, but I noticed (as a knight) that the 'average' damage dealt by my bowmen in melee are not far off from when they shoot. Not stats to confirm this, but imho, I seriously don't think there's much difference when a bowmen/xbow shoot or melee.
Btw, we knights are already a 'dying' breed, knights are leaving castles in flocks to join the dark side, so even if there's a bug (i ready doubt there is) give our x-bows a break, will ya.. :p | Melee penalty is there, but 2-8 dmg range makes it tricky to spot at times ;) | closed by Shebali (2009-06-12 23:36:53) |
