Knight TG help

Ever since I reached level 7, the TG has become very hard. I was winning almost 90% of pve combats earlier but now i seem to be losing 50% of pve combats. I have been able to defeat barbs, knights and elfs easily but demons, DE, wizards and necro are very tough. Any advice on how I can make it easier for myself considering i dnt hv much gold to buy new artifacts.

maybe I can set ambush at a different path (I usually put it at YL-BG) or some other advice.

Also, if I have to buy one artifact, does a pendant of despair make sense instead of amulet of luck? That will make my luck zero though.
for all reasons keep amulet of luck +1 luck is good

second reduce your bows get max swords that should help
I do have max swords. if I reduce bows, i get recruits for them. griffins and swords are already maxed out
Pendant of Despair is good for thieving but any improvement in arts makes just a temporary advantage. The caravans just become too hard in time. Its normal.
try using rally + escort
Thieving: Vitality + Escort
PvP: Battle Fury
Hunts: Battle Fury

Arts:

Thieving: Full arts (40+ ap) (Pendant of D., SoM, Steel Cuirass, Steel Boots, Steel Helmet, 2x ring of inspiration, Cape of Winds, Dragon Shield

PvP: 10-15 ap

Easy hunts: min ap

Hard hunts: try 10-15 ap or rent (normal) hunter set (MH is too expensive)

OH and for troops setting

Thieving: 79 rec. 3 bows, 49 swords, 13 griffins (vital+escort)
PvP: 1 rec. 44 bows (or 43 bows 3 rec.), 49 swords, 13 griffins (Battle fury)
Hunts: same as pvp
How come a level 5 elf tells a level 7 knight how to ambush?

IMO bowmen are great for ambushes because of the volley ability. But I wouldn't know for sure since I'm a barbarian...
But if the opponent hero is wizard or DE then your bowmen will be destroyed in 1.5 turns

IMHO, that's a good thing because the bows distract the opponent and leave your griffs and swords to clean house while they're busy attacking your bowmen. With recruits, you don't get that advantage. They go straight for your griffins.
The problem here is that I cannot know before the ambush whether it will be wiz, DE or barb etc. hence, I cannot know whether to keep bow or not? And no griffs and swords cant clean the house since the pve sets the units in such a way that this is not possible.

I started my Tg at lvl 7, and I didn't have much problem with most caravans (except for them Demon ones with more than 4 units of $^%&^( Devils ! haha..). While it may pale in comparison to a lot of other thieves, I did get to TG2 in 8 days.

Note though that TG caravans does progress with a player's combat level, PLUS the fact that caravans gets harder each time u beat a particular type of caravansso your arts worn must go up accordingly. Surely, u don't expect to be wearing the same arts when u thieve at lvl 8 and beyond, right? :)

Anyway, here' my humble suggestions:

- Gotta wear at least Steel helmet, cuirass and boots, together with a defender shield, SoR and luck amulet. This should be your bare MINIMUM to get a high % chance of success in thieving. Remember, if you are losing 50% of the TGs, then the opportunity cost for your arts (with no TG point for a loss) and the additional gold u might need to pay to extend your TGI lease, may not be worthwhile.

If budget permits, get a Cape of Wind too, coz 3 of the caravans does pretty bad damage to your troops with them lightning spells.

- Since you got no idea what sort of caravan you will be getting, the best combo of troops to bring to battle will be Max swords and griffins. NEVER max Bowmens, since almost all caravans go for the bowmen first, and will not relent till the last Bowmen drops.

At best, your bowmen will have 1-2 good turns with pretty much of the stack intact (don't count of it though). If you are facing a lot of small (1-3) units enemies (like farmers/rogues/imps etc) lumped together in the center of the battlefield, USE VOLLEY. It should kill off most of the irritating small stacks that does accumulated damage and take away the retals of your main weapon - the SM.

Even if you don't kill them off, your Griffin should take care of my minor enemies with it's unlimited retal.

- ALWAYS have Escort as one of your talent. Then u can either go for Rally or Vitality. (I chose Rally, coz the extra numbers to my SM does really good damage, esp if coupled with a Luck strike)

And put Escort to griffins first chance you get. coz it's like having a Double retaliation ability. If the volley don't kill off >70% of the enemies, the Grif's unlimited retal will. If that still don't do it, the sheer sight of a knight Hero, with sword drawn, rampaging down an enemy's throat, is enuf to make an eney stack suffers a heart attack, :D

The rest, just go with trail and error.

Alrighty, if you go with these suggestions, pretty sure you'll win lots more than u lose in TGs.

The best way to do thieving - to do it in minimum AP.
Of course if you need to return TGI quickly the full art is ghe answer. But you have to lose anyway after you reach certain point in TG with caravans, since they get stronger with every winning and a little bit weaker with losing.
If you fight in min AP, you can keep quite nice balance between winning and losing. If you put on the full gear - you are easily make dozens of wins in a row, but afterward you'll HAVE TO lose the same if not more. So save your money and nerves - do thieving in minimum AP on routing basis

In theory that sounds great. But in practice how many caravans can you beat using minimum AP? I basically lost my last 70 caravan fights. There were a few wins, but that was because I got tired of losing and swapped back in full arts.
Pantheon try losing some more. Full arts cost 1500 or more. Normal medium set is 300 gold per fight. I would rather lose 5 fights with a small chance of winning one of them, than win till the point that every loss will cost me 1500 gold and every win will cost 1300. It is not possible in a long run I think.

you absolutely right. strategically min AP is a must.
as i said from the very beginning - if you need to gain 2TG quickly - use full AP, than shift to minimum. if there is no rush with renting - do it in min AP from the very beginning.

for Pantheon:
it's not the theory only. look at my combat log and TG lvl.

because I got tired of losing and swapped back in full arts
that's what i said about nerves and time and cost.

Depends on what you mean by long run. I actually started using full arts (costs ~2-3k gold depending on how you calculate it) and never stopped to do half (normal medium) set of arts. Only reason that I've started doing this min AP losing thing is because I'm losing while with full arts and I've ran out of options such as switching factions, using even better enchants, and changing strategies.

Who knows... maybe I'll see a real difference after another 100 losses.

I'll wait and see how well you do later on. I find TG much harder as your combat lvl and TG lvl increase. For example lvl 10 with TG4 is much harder than lvl 8 with TG2.
for Pantheon:
the ratio doesn't change much. you have more troops and more talents and more powerful hero on lvl 10 compare to lvl 8.
and i know how caravans increase after combat and TG lvl up.
please, do not compare level 10 with 8 and say that everything is harder there. of course it is. but everything is quite relatively the same meanwhile.

and i'm sure i will continue to do TG in min AP and when i reach lvl 10 i also will have TG4. but it would be gained by much cheaper way. and will have the same 50-60% of wins as i have now

i am thieving in full gear only on the anniversary days when arts do not get broken :)
