Authorproblems in damage done by the hero
You've started to become sarcastic

I've started? I strew in traces of sarcasm all the time and in the last post not more than before, so I'm not quite certain where you took offence.

Of course they could do what you suggest, but what tells you things are not exactly how they are supposed to be, the original is even more random and it's not the only turn based strategy game that has a big deal of randomness (Civilisation IV is another good example) to get closer to reality. The point is to formulate a strategy that is flexible enough to survive some setbacks and even if you lose a priory (due to the randomness in the game), it's nothing to get worked up about, it's just part of the game and losing strengthens the character.
And if you really don't want all this randomness I recommend something like chess.
Ok, people. This is the Combat Problem thread, not a discussion thread on your opinions.

Take this elsewhere.
nah, this isn't a combat problem thread, it's a misplaced thread, which has, for some reason, been placed in the Combat Problem part of the forum:P

25:
If you want to use escort then you have to pick Escort talent, which costs 5 points.

At 5th level you can only pick one talent, because you have only
5*(combat level-3) = 5*(5-3) = 10 points

Only Escort costs 5 points, other talents for Knights cost more.
In level 6 you will be able to use 2 talents.

Different factions have different cost of talents.
For example:
Luck for Knights costs 10 points (for Elves Luck costs only 7 points).
Leadership (i.e. Morale) for Knights costs only 7 (for Elves Leadership costs 10 points).

The problem here is that you are looking at the RNG for damage by the enemy hero as being disconnected from all the other RNGs made by the program throughout the combat.

It is likely that the programmers having found an acceptable RNG method, would use it for *all* rolls in the combat.

So it was merely coincidence that the rolls made by the enemy Hero happened to be of similar values to the previous rolls made by that same Hero. I'm sure if you examine the RNGs in the combat *as a whole* you will find it to be as random as any other collection of RNG results.

Someone working in a field dealing with RNGs and statistic distributions should be well aware of this.

Have Fun
