| hi, ive watched lots of elfs battles and im tempted to buy efks and become an elf. should i do this? |

| well im a lvl 7 elf and i can say that elfs are a pretty good offensive unit. At your level though ur bowmen will survive since shrews are the first to die. But after DE dies in GB, ur next. Also ggetting unicorns is useless since they really arent that good except for protecting archers from magic. EFK are an amazing upgrade with their battledance and are highly effective in hunts MG and Theives when u have high ini and u are the ambusher. As an elf i say go for it |

1. Elf is the first to die in a GB.
2. Elf is weak at low faction level.
3. Until level 10 (including), Elf is acceptable in all types of combats providing a decent faction level.
4. Elf is not an easy faction.
5. Elf is not a "boring" faction.
(Unicorns are almost as strong as EFK's in attack.) |
Well, I almost never do group battles (GB) anymore. They aren't as much fun to me as a good old Hunt, or a Thief Ambush. And wow! you get loads of points from these better than group battles without the aggravation.
I'm an Elf and have been since I started playing. I bought Diamonds to upgrade my Forest Keepers to Elite Forest Keepers and haven't been disappointed. EFK's are GREAT! Unicorns are great too. I've upgraded my Bowmen to Grandmaster Bowmen when I reached Level 9 and what a difference they make. With EFK's, Sprites & Grandmaster Bowmen, I love being an Elf!
The best trick to doing Elf is to wait for the enemy to come to you. Then split your EFK's in two stacks, one stack with only one EFK to take the retaliation. Then your large stack of EFK's can get in a good hit, especially if there are two stacks of enemies adjacent or next to each other on any square.
With your Bowmen (and Sprites if you're using them) you can get the upper hand in a lot of battles. Unicorns are great for defending your Bowmen (or Grandmaster Bowmen) and can attack enemies after retaliation has been taken, doing good damage.

Actually, it depends on how you fight and your preference. But if you are interested with Elf's playing style and you want to switch to Elf, do it now.
You will have more difficulties if you decide to switch at higher level than you are now. The sooner the better.
Yes, EFK is a great asset but it doesn't mean that if you don't have EFK then you can't play as an Elf. Elf has various tactics according to what your opponents are (especially in hunts).
Unlike DE who depends a lot on Shrews, Elf can fight with various units: Sprites, Unicorn or Elven Bowmen/Grand Master Bowmen. |
EFKs must be really devastating for thieving ^^
