I don't get it, someone please explain.
in this fight (and others)

the other player has 7 attack power, 4 elf levels and does 11-15 damage
I have 8 attack power, 4 elf levels, and only do 10-14 damage
why am i doing less damage when i have higher attack? |

for nahdont:
nope, same talents. rain of arrows and basic fortune |
i have the same faction level as niteowl. i have the same combat level as niteowl. i have the same talents (basic luck and rain of arrows) as niteowl.
it doesnt say anywhere that having points in other factions lowers your attack.
could i please get a response from someone who isnt guessing. |

I believe because he has parameters att 5, def 3 (un-arted) and you have att 7 def 1.
That's the only difference i see in the two chars.
Also it is known that both att and def parameters affect the hero damage range. |
Your base Defence along with your current attack increases your damage.
The exact formula is not revealed and may not ever be. |
well i didnt know that defense affected the damage so at least i got some info. but we both had 7 defense in that fight.

i have 8 att 7 def
and he does more damage because his defense without arts is higher?
that doesnt even make sense, if natural stats are more important than modded stats, shouldn't i be the one doing more damage because my natural attack is 2 points higher? |

Base defense is the keyword. parameters increased by arts do not affect the hero damage as much as the base damage.

, yes it is logical that more att = more hero damage
but since the formula is not revealed, may be 5 att + 3 def outweighs 7 att + 1 def. if the other player had 5 att and 1 def then your hero damage will be higher obviously >.< |
on topic, att and def talents also affect the hero damage.
To conclude :
Base att and Base def affect the hero output more
art att and art def affect it but to a lesser extent
att and def talents also modify the output
racial variation might be there (i'll verify in the evening after i switch faction) |
so i am just going to assume that know one really knows and you are all guessing since even the semi-plausible answers involve a "the formula is not known, but maybe..." disclaimer.
