Personally, I can see what the original poster has in mind, but if we have to start walking on eggshells about the technical issues and cheaters in the game so as not to hurt the administration's feelings, well, there are other games out there. |

Puh-lease. Arctic this, Arctic that... He is certainly pivotal to the catch-up of this server (regarding translation, for example) but if he's out for a week it's not the end of the world. Mines have been refilled (in GC, and the famous Sulfur mine of YL as well). So don't limit .com administration to just Arctic.
Hmmm. Yeah, Arctic this and that because he moves this server forward. To possibly go back to the way it was before he showed up? No thank you. Seeing mines refilled isn't what I call something to cheer about. This server is most certainly about Arctic at this point. I will give you an example. There were a couple lame attempts at fining cheaters while he was gone. I have seen these fines and it is plain laziness. 1 gold piece fines for over 100k in transfers? Yeah, sure was a huge reason for those players to stop. In almost all cases, the cheating continued without even a slowdown. This is why we are overwhelmed with a backlog.
Also in the Dark Ages, threads like this would usually be shut down and that made us more irritated. Now, if we present a problem we can freely discuss things without interference. Another huge plus while Arctic is here.
This thread has been up long enough to have been read by the usual suspects and the lack of posts on it tells us just what we thought. There aren't enough players here with the will to even try to make changes. Hiding these problems doesn't improve the server pop one bit as we saw already.
The main problem remains the lack of people able to control the cheating. The longer it continues, the more daunting the task is to get a handle on it. We aren't even close to that. It is a serious problem and eventually people who play by the book will tire of it and split. |

We would love to have someone backup Arctic, especially in serious cases while he is gone, but one thing is that it is up to his decision to give some powers to other people. If he is the only one with such power, he is the only one with such resposibility.
And on the other hand, there are plenty of people already complaining about mods actions and keeper`s actions. So giving some of them more power might just raise the suspicions around these people and make them feel even more uncomfortable thus ruining their game. I guess it takes a lot of fun away from the game when you have such responsibilities and powers. |
Arctic has been doing a great job since he returned. From talking with him though for these type of decisions he needs the game owners permission.
Some things like access to code they are rightfully careful of and I dont think it is needed or ever likely that players they do not know will be given access to them.
For dealing with cheats however, there are far too many for one person to handle on their own (even with the support of the "juries" compiling reports for him) as Arctic has to personally apply all fines and blocks himself. What I hope will happen is that some jury members will eventually be given authority to deal with the obvious cheaters as they are found. For example the ones who use names like player1, player2, player3, etc and whos transfers logs are full of financial support transfers. This will leave the more complex ones for Arctic to have the final say on.
Like I said in my previous post in this thread. There is a lot we can do as a community to discourage cheats by removing them from clans and denying them access to enchanters and smiths. There are a small number of clans which have been created as a refuge almost totally for cheats and if other clans clean up their acts it makes them a lot more visible and easier to target these players and impose appropriate fines/blocks. |

I wish we only had more admins(NO offense to Artic),but I think that he would agree with me that he has too much work to do for only one guy :S! |
