behavior of AI shooters

Authorbehavior of AI shooters
sometimes, when they have a creature next to them, they will melee it .. other times they will walk away and not attack ..

why do they sometimes walk away? i'd like to be able to predict their behavior

theories welcome,
Would you always hit with your shooters?
pointless questions unwelcome,
Their AI is improved
Shooters "want" to shot =)
well i did noticed it also in some ambushes which is getting me nearly getting AFK after crashing the "K" but it happened after the AI behavior updates. :)
in my experience they tend to walk away if there is a preferred target they want to shoot at. Example: bandits walked away from my griffs cos they wanted to shoot at bowmen. Or at least that's the way it seems to me :)
if their is another stack out of melee range, other than the blocking one, they will move so they will be able to shoot. if not they will attack melee any stack available.
#3 What I meant was: they are trying to avoid doing a melee if it's not worth and they are trying to look for an easier target or eventualy just move hoping for a better shot next turn. Just like a human would do.
sometimes if they you block a stack of shooters and its their turn, they just walk away to a free spot and dont attack (melee) at all
Very handy in the survival tournaments ^_^

that's the idea, but you are personifying the behaviour of the AI when there's a precise reason behind what they do because it's coded

understanding that precise logic enables me, you, us, to exploit that behaviour (which i nearly spelt americanly again) which is of particular use to us in survival tourneys like sven said^^

thanks for thoughts, samouravip you sound pretty sure, laitha i like your theory :):) i felt like they felt disdainful towards summoned stacks and didn't want to attack them :D
This is slightly off-topic, but i agree with Grasshopper. The other day, in a hunt some farmers blocked my xbows and instead of attcking the xbows they attcked all the adjacent units instead.
This topic is long since last update and considered obsolete for further discussions.
