Does anyone know roughly how much gold it costs to reach a 90% repair level from the Smithies Guild ?

4k repairing cost is always 1 smith points
smiths guild 9 = 2885 points
2885 * 4 000 = 11 540 000 gold.
But if you do a smithing service, the customer will pay 50% average or something, so it will be around 6M |

i dont think so cause till 70% smithing guild is achieved you don't pay 50% anymore...
so its more like close to 8.5 M |
Oh, that's crazy!
So without the support of a wealthy and generous guild, it is nigh impossible to reach the maximum level.
So who has got 6 odd million + to splash around especially after the 1 combat in 10 enrols rule.

why would a guild help you with it?
In general a guild makes it only more expensive, since smiths give a special discount to clan members |

A year or so and more ago the bigger guilds had a weekly tax and a couple of nominated guild repairers. Repairs were funded at least in part by the guild taxes.
As guilds (to my knowledge) no longer have weekly taxes those few master repairers at the top have little to fear of increased competition.
Up and coming Repair Smiths no longer get the same guild support and the one in 10 combat:enrolment rule now makes Repairing a very difficult pursuit.

Usually such guild members had multies in their guild who did such repairs.
Similar problem was with enchanters too (we know who they are).
Another thing:
I remember when someone did 30% repairs at 40% of repair cost and his blacksmith was always busy, because he was the best smith at that time :) |
The customers will pay 7716k if the the repair fee is charged equal to the repair efficiency.
So you need to pay only 3824k from your side. |

Yes, "Only"! :)) |

Just think of it this way. You need ~3000 repair hours. Let's assume you already have high LG and enroll in high wages, so ~750 gold per enroll. This comes out to 2250k gold you receive during your repairs.
Yes, I realize that you actually need gold for other activities. But you would be able to enroll more consistently than you can repair. So during your long career as a smith-in-training you would actually receive more than 2250k from enrolling. |
