For a computer it is impossible to generate a "random" number.
In most cases they use a variable that is constantly different, do some math with it, and then there is the "random number"
For example this variable can be the amount of miliseconds (since that changes all the time).
But I doubt admins will ever tell you which variable they are using :P |
what Sven tells us is the truth how ever even if the admins don't tell us the variable you can always see what they give us and try to find out your solution

a good random generator will take a variable (maybe number of level 1 characters online) and compute a function of this variable which gives a number between 1 and 38 (where 37 = 0, 38 = 00).
however, sometimes pseudorandom generators which take an initial number and make many random-looking numbers from it. This is not good because the numbers are already defined by the function once you figure out the initial value. In some cases, it is possible to predict future values knowing a few of the recent values.

A truly good random generator would take a variable (or multiple variables) that aren't easily accessed by others. Also the values from the variables should be fairly random, so the output wouldn't be lopsided.

And if the programmer were actually trying, the generator could take in so many variables that even if you had a list of inputs and outputs, you would still have a hard time cracking the formula. |
