No I do not admit this. Selling something that is used/broken at the same price as a new one is dishonest.
And I said 10/40 NOT 12/40. He does the same trick at 2/12 or 5/25.
It is a deliberate tactic as the buyer THINKS the item has full durability. But he/she is being fooled
I am gonna start do that too...its a vry good deal it seems...
i always check the dura tiwce before pressing the buy button
also you have an option to see only the full dura arts...check it and no futher problem |
for Warwick-the-wiz:
Actually I'm not really a happy trader for wood and ore. I just do it because I have excess resources from overstockpiling. And why do I need to stockpile? This is because our economy is unstable. I do so to avoid those obvious shortages. I sell over 100 times more resources to map than I do to market. I also sell my excess resources because I'm tired of seeing sellers putting up overpriced resources onto the market. So when prices are too high, I don't undercut by a mere 1 gold; sometimes I undercut by 20 gold.
I agree with you that selling lower durability items for almost full price is dishonest, but not in the same way as you. To me it's a deliberate tactic by the seller to play on the buyer's lack of knowledge. Think of it as selling an overpriced used car.
As for the selling above art shop pricing, I really do mean art shop and not map items. For example selling PoO for 5k gold. Not only is buying from art shop tax free, but sellers in the market are making buyers pay their profit premium as well. And unlike facility items where you can argue that some people are just too lazy (or unable to walk around such as keeping a hunt) to travel, the art shop is accessible anywhere. To me selling overpriced art shop items is even more dishonest than selling overpriced used items.
And with this post with me pointing out how new players and sometimes even veterans buying overpriced PoO, I hope less people would actually donate gold to those traders. But I know people will still do it since this is literally my 100th something post about overpriced PoO and I still see players buying. |
for Pantheon:
one question for you.why would you repair light axe to dura 12?since it easier and cheaper to buy it again...
what is PoO?
maybe you repair it because you wanna help someone with its smith skill? |
PoO = Potion of Oblivion
To me selling overpriced art shop items is even more dishonest than selling overpriced used items.
Well... To me, it would be called mistake of the buyer, not dishonesty of the seller... :) |
for i-might-die:
It is easier, cheaper, and better to rebuy than to repair shop arts.
Repair cost with any efficiency makes 40% of the estimated artifact cost (according to the prices of the shop), while worn out artifacts buyout rate is 65%, making you pay only 35% to completely restore a shop artifact. The guild warns that smithing is an art, and usually leads to money loss.

Repairing shop arts is solely for the purpose of leveling up smithing. |
for Pantheon:
i havent doubt a second you would of lose money if you keep repiaring an non ench shop art...
Nice of you for helping someone...
thanks speed dragon for the answer... |
Okay, Pantheon, but some of the smith's are doing the repair for 65-40% of the repair cost or even for free, if the item is cheap enough to repair.
So I think, repair is worth doing with a cheap smith. |
for akz:
You are thinking too selfishly. The recommendation against repairing shop arts is because it's cheaper to rebuy.
Why don't you say there's a smith who would gift you 500% of repair cost for using his services. The issue is that someone (or everyone) involved is paying extra beyond just rebuying the shop art. |
Selling arts with lower durability than the original one at the same price is also considered a merchant tactic as long it does not break the game rule. Whether it is ethically right or wrong has little to do with it.(which is a different case in real world.)
As long as your tactics or strategies earn money and do not break the rule, it is welcomed in this thread. Plus, resource selling is no longer a secret and is getting difficult to do it because the market is coming to a slowdown. |
To 49.
Again I disagree. in fact this tactic is probably taking advantage of dyslexics.
And why would it be a different case in the real world. Being ethical is surely something you should aspire too at all times?
Cheers

maan can someone keep some posts coming.
I want to read more about this trading thing |
I would like to trade my Hell Reaper's Scythe (29/29 durability). Somone interested? I, personaly, am trying to collect gold to buy a full ART set for lvl 10 might hero. So, I need this kind of items |
Okay people, just to clear couple of things out:
This thread is NOT for trading ANYTHING, it's for the merchants/traders to share their experience here, discuss their market strategies, maybe some tips and tricks, etc.
Any attempts to buy/sell something within this thread will lead to a forum ban for posting in wrong section. Consider it as an official warning. |

for ZioBlade:

Actually to veteran traders this is better. When market is going fast, it is a click war. When market is slow, veteran traders have the advantage in terms of patience, stockpile, and ability/willingness to move the market. |
for ZioBlade:
Opps; you probably meant the player market only. I was referring to the market economy in general including selling to map and direct player purchase/sales. |
What about sellers that always take down the market?
Is it just my impression or every time i find a profitable decent trade, someone arrives and takes down the price to 10, 20 profit only, instead of the 80-100 they used to be? |
for viola17:
I believe the only reason why the profit fluctuates upwards is because of the limited inventory and lots allowed. If people had more lots and inventory space, the profit could easily go below only 10-20 gold and stay there. |
