Good RPG games (for pc)

AuthorGood RPG games (for pc)
does anyone know good RPG games for pc?
some great ones that i've played are:

-Gothic
-Gothic II
-Risen

i'd like to play some more games like these, any suggestions?
If you want good fantasy story and can live with oldschool graphics I suggest the Baldur's Gate series and Planescape Torment.
oldschool graphics
i have a brand new very fast computer, the game might now even run. i tried installing gothic on it, it didnt work
chrono trigger,
Planescape Torment - one of the very best RPGs. Ever.

Dungeon Master and Chaos strikes back - real oldschool RPGs. Totaly outfashioned today, but still worth an experience... set the standards back in 1989. played them again like two years ago and was still surprised how timless the quality of this games was and is.

Wizardry VII - crusaders of the dark savant. One of the very few games that deserves the description EPIC. I never finished it though... it takes time. and i mean like years... and some parts of it are very, very hard.

Fallout II - like Planescape probably one of the best games ever made. and like planescape somehow hard to play today... we have been spoiled by graphics, sound and effects.
if you are more into graphics and stuff i suggest Fallout III - still very good, but not the same as fallout II.

besides the baldurs gate series i also recommend Neverwinter Nights I - Hordes of the Underdark. Just this one, not the original game, the other addons or Neverwinter Nights II... they're mostly... boring. But Hordes of the Underdark had this wonderful and surprising storytwist and some realy enjoyable moments.

Two of the other Best RPGs Ever you already played: Gothic I and II. The second probably being my most favorite game of all time. it is sooo close to perfection. A MUST for all RPG-gamers! Gothic III was nice, but lacks story and is quite buggy.

lately, i also enjoied Dragon Age. Nice RPG with more depth to it as it makes appearant at first (or second) sight. But forget the addon (Awakening), it's just... stupid.

Two RPGs i heard a lot of positive critic are Knights of the old Republic and The Witcher, although i havent played them myself (yet).
I've started playing Dragon Age: Origins but after half an hour, i quit and deleted it. it has ok graphics, and the storyline was (so far) interesting, but it wasn't the style that i was looking for. there, you click on an enemy and your character fights for you.

im downloading the witcher now, i've read that it's pretty good
next you just start paying from these games

play it on hard. you will loose 95% of your fights if you don't use good tactics.
Mass Effect 1 and 2, Dragon Age, The Witcher, Oblivion.

No other games can compare.
If you can live with old graphics then Might and Magic series is very nice.
Played 7, 8 and 9.
7 was the best for me, maybe because it was the first for me.

For new graphics (a very good one) you might be interesting to try Dungeons and Dragons Online (it's possible to play it 100% free, but most players pay real money there to skip a lot of grinding).
Try Final Fantasy if you can find the for PC,but I think only Final Fantasy XI is realesed for PC.

Final Fantasy series are the best RPGs ever I played on consoles, you can download a PS 1 emulator for your PC if you want to try them ;)
I've played Final Fantasy too, it was interesting (how did I forgot about it?).

There was interesting mechanics (never seen anything like that in other games).
For example, for fire resistance you had to have some elements (and make some bond with them). You can "Draw" those elements from various monsters while fighting them (different monsters had different elements).
I also liked summoned creatures (GF): Shiva, Leviathan, etc.
And I like when they got experience too.
I was really impressed by animation of Leviathan (takes long time to summon, but I always enjoyed it).
Its possible to find Final Fantasy 7 for PC (I have a copy of it home) :P
epicduel
yea ff is one of those series that just wont die with such terrible games as ff 10 ff 10 2 there epic fail of a new mmo XD my god i feel sry for that series
I play Dungeons and Dragons Online and like it alot. I enroll in Lwm and do hunts after I finish a big quest. I love all of the old Final Fantasy games and have played them on emulator quite a bit including a few that were never released in the US.
The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind - best RPG ever in my opinion. Graphics might suck a bit, but storyline is epic.
The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind
That was a nice game until ... I realized that Intelligence + Alchemy = Legal Cheat.

You can mix potions there to make stronger potions (no limit here).
I did make very strong potions, which increased intelligence and that gave possibility to make even stronger potions and with very long duration.
Continuing the process my Intelligence because more than a million and my potions last for months, i.e. forever. And I did drink other potions too.

For example with super high Luck skill I could jump very high (I almost flied).
And all monsters were too easy to easy kill - that's why I never finished that game (no challenge = boring).

Despite the fact I never use cheats (only for some tests, checking bugs etc., but never for game play) I stuck with the dilemma:
1) play optimally (as I usually do), which definitely includes using Intelligence + Alchemy (i.e. "cheat")
2) ignore the in-game legal possibility to use Intelligence + Alchemy, meaning play not optimally

So:
1) If I play optimally then I "cheat", but then the game is boring, no point to play
2) If I don't "cheat" then I don't play optimally, but then again, boring (not my style)

Since I couldn't solve that problem I uninstalled that game :)

But the game was really interesting, I really liked it (until I found out how to play optimally :) ).
Btw: If you decide to give Baldur's Gate a chance:

There are two extensions for part I and part II.

And there are plenty of mods made by fans in the internet, for example a conversion mod which allows you to play BG I and BG II (including extensions) in one game while using the BG II graphic engine (which looks much better then the BG I engine). It's called Baldur's Gate Trilogy. :)
There was interesting mechanics (never seen anything like that in other games).

Every Final Fantasy has different machanics, that is what is interesting about the game anyways.
Take FF 10 for example, you need to play it around 200 hours to pass is COMPLETELY.Those games can never get boring ^^
