Author | How to Buy Diamonds WITHOUT a Credit Card or Bank Account! |
It has come to my attention that some (if not many) players, especially those who are under the age of 18, do not know how to buy Diamonds or anything online without a credit card. I would like to share my method and of course, it may not work in your country.
I live in the United States and in a big city therefore I have easy access to many stores that sell gift cards. In the past, I had always wanted to order thing online because a lot of the times, it was a lot cheaper. So I constantly looks for way to do online shopping without a credit card. I then found a way through prepaid gift cards such as VISA and American Express. Through experimenting with these gift cards, I have found that American Express only allows payment to American based sellers or companies (though it would be nice to have this confirmed). VISA, however, does not have a region restriction, but I find the debit versions of the prepaid cards don't work in all online stores (needs confirmation). I also found that these cards work best in stores that don't require paypal for confirmation, although sometimes it has worked (also needs confirmation). These cards also have an activation price which depends on the amount the prepaid cards contain.
Recently, I've been using Green Dot MoneyPak Cards. These cards allow you insert the amount of money of your choosing with a minimum of 20 US dollars and a maximum of $500 in most stores and a whooping $1100 at Walmart (why Walmart? o_o). There is a monthly limit, which I'm not sure of but you can see all the details on the back of the card. The activation fee is $5 for this card no matter how much you put in the card. This card can be used to reload a prepaid card on to transfer into your Paypal account which can be spent almost immediately after. Some stores require you to wait one hour after activation before you can do anything with the card and some stores don't. For me, Walgreen had me wait an hour, but 7/11 was immediate.
The money you transfer into your Paypal account can be used without a limit regardless if you add a credit card or bank account like you normally have to do with Paypal. For those who don't know Paypal is free to open account, but it normally won't let you spend money unless you have a bank account or credit card tied to it. The money transferred from Green Dot can be used in all online stores that I have tried so far that have an option to pay with Paypal such as Ebay. Paypal is more ideal for this site as it allows you to convert currencies.
All three options will ask for a billing address and phone number but I have not received any bills or phone calls thus far. Another important thing to note is that VISA and American Express decreases it's value each month but you can use these cards to shop regularly in any place that accepts credit cards for example you're local Gamestop. Green Dot will not decrease over time as the money is in your Paypal account but you cannot use the Green Dot card as a credit card and shop.
Just thought I'd share this information to people who do not know so they can take advantage of these options and support this site. If anyone knows any other way be it different options or in different countries please share with everyone. Thanks.

I am not sure if this is the correct forum to post in and please forgive for the double post. |
Next time post it in Queries and Help. |
Oh sorry, can a mod move it then? |
Topic moved from "Off-game forum" to "Queries and help". |
That is useful info for folks that have access to such pre-paid cards :)
I thought you had to be 18 to make a paypal account though? |
I don't remember for I made my paypal account quite some time ago. I just checked a couple minutes ago and on the first page to register for paypal, it does not ask for your date of birth. However, I'm sure it is quite easy to lie about age for online registration. :) |
I also see this as a nice alternative to shopping with a credit card. Stops you from getting carried away and falling into debt. It also doesn't bill you. |
Not really asking for help...or a query...interesting information though :)
I am closing the thread now, thanks for sharing the info with everyone. |
