The what is the problem with name changing? I see it as a great idea, probably diamond only utility, but still useful. They could also have all of the names in transfer/combat/game logs automatically change based on the characters ID. |
So actually, Player ID is the answer to all the problems. Why don't they want to make a new " CHANGE NAME " icon? |
They could also have all of the names in transfer/combat/game logs automatically change based on the characters ID. This might be the problem, they're logs and not databases. They may not be so easily changed as you imagine. |

i think that name change should be free but there should be some limitations.
as example:
1.you can change your name only 2 times in whole game(i mean if you change name 2 times you cant change it anymore with this account.
2. you can only change your name if more than month passed since last change( maybe few weeks but i think month is good to avoid massive changing) |
They may not be so easily changed as you imagine.
yes, thats true. we are login with our name here. it will be easier if they use email address as login name. |
Well I want to change my name for obvious reasons.

+1 if we all have IDs, then where is there a flaw in the idea? |

It should be very easy. Being a programmer myself, I can say that if characters were set up in the obvious way, the name should not have anything to do with the game except for display. It might confuse some people who use the nick= in the URLs, for example:
www.lordswm.com/pl_info.php?nick=qulows could be 2 different people each day. As long as you can't change to an in-use name, there shouldn't be any problems.
However, for illegal transfers, the player ID should (and is) always be retrievable. This uniquely identifies any character, for example my id is 367838, so my character page is www.lordswm.com/pl_info.php?id=4667838.
Think of it like this - your nickname on LWM is like a phone number, but your LWM ID is like your fingerprint. |
