once I was a demon I didn't hace last upgraded monsters and I couldn't do any PvP battles (eg duels etc).
Go to duels and check if you can create a challenge, if not then I guess that's your problem, but not 100% sure.

I have no upgrades and no Tier7 and I can set up ambushes and play all kinds of battles.
I just need rally as a talent. Without rally I cannot set up an ambush. |
As knight you probably used Rally. Rally messes with the minimum troop requirement, so you could probably get away without tier 7s.
You will need devils as demon, upgrading hell horses to nightmares wont affect minimum troop requirement. |
nightmares neither devils are required.
Maybe your faction level is too low

As I dig this problem on .ru forum more deeper, I've found one more condition: greatest possible army HP regarding unrecruited army HP must not be lower than certain value.
So, you can try to use Rally for DE, and Brethen Commander to E. Maybe then you can perform ambushing. |
