For the past week, I've verified with near complete certainty that someone is running resource-selling script at East Bay again (and only at East Bay). I tested all around the clock for days.
My question is, is there any way to figure out who's doing it? |
Admins can find out who is it. |
I'm sure admins have some method for catching such people. |
(and only at East Bay).
GC too; specifically steel and nickel. |
I tested at GC, and it wasn't so conclusive. At certain hours in the day, it doesn't seem to happen, whereas in East Bay, it always happens. |
At GC it is seems rather conclusive to me. I've bought steel/nickel over 10 times in the past 3 days and someone sold resources rather quickly. And my play hours are at the down time of the server; usually below 300 online. It seems to me that scripters change; not like they camp at a location all the time, don't move, do it all hours, or even everyday. I'm guessing it has something to do with not having stable internet connection all the time (the server isn't stable 24/7 anyway) and they are trying to not make it so obvious that they are using scripts. Afterall the admins are only reactive to cheating (or doing an extremely poor job at being proactive). |
yeah if 10/2000 people that play this game used scripts to cheat, admins wouldn't go looking for them. it's easier to ignore |
pantheon, that some1 @ GC could be me, I love to sell resources especialy at those low hours to gain a few extra gold :d
for TheMarsh:
10/2000 is a high number imo (for lwm scale) and got to be caught. |
Nevermind; no scripters today at GC steel today.
for selfist:
Uh huh, and you refresh it nonstop at those low hours? I'm not referring to people selling resources faster than others. I'm referring to me randomly buying something at a random time and then you being able to sell to it within a few seconds. |

Yup, happens to me too. I buy steel to enroll and sometimes the gold is gone before I can enroll :( |

So do I, but I don't sit around refreshing the page every few seconds. In GC steel, sometimes I buy steel to enroll and I'm not even able to enroll before the gold is gone.
On a side note, it is possible to catch them, all the admins have to do is keep a log (like facility functioning log) of who sells resources to the facilities. |
there are times I refresh non stop for a few minutes, but frankly, its not to sell wood/ore, rather to get rid of extra heavy metals.
btw, i'm afraid, soon we all be buying wood ore to be able to enroll for 175/hour.
admins cure for inflation works perfectly.
NO players left = NO inflation. |
for DragonEater:
And I'm talking about server low times and it happening 10+ times. And no, I don't just rebuy steel again within 5 seconds; I switch to another facility or I wait a few minutes before trying again. And yes, I use the copy/paste method for enrolling when these things happen and sometimes even that fails.

Better method is admins tracking how many page requests and/or attempts to sell resources (one can try to sell resources even without the input box appearing). |

I do this as well; this is why my resources and machinery items can go very high. I'm actually a part of the economy. I buy/sell resources and enroll.
I see it as a natural cycle. During event time arts run out and during dead times mines run out of gold. Since the economy isn't perfect, admins adjust facility numbers when events or dead times last too long. |

I do this too, but I won't do it at facilities without gold, that is too much of a waste of time. I only do this when there are production (and sometimes machining) facilities with gold and spots to enroll for other people, so I can be quite sure that I will quickly be able to sell resources. |

my software knowledge is (was) from cobol/fortran/pascal period, cant even imagine how thats possible.
for DragonEater:
shhh, giving away trade secrets :p
Back to main topic, yes, pls some1 do something about those illegal scripts.
But precautions should be better designed than 100.000 gold EB nikel experiment (I bought one and sold for 1706, thx to arctic refunded later) |
