AuthorTeleport spell's range
Hi all,
I'm trying to find how the teleport's range works. The distance you can teleport a stack is 10*R/HP (where R is the result of the formula according to your talent and Spell Power). OK lets say that the result of the above is 2.9, is this distance rounded down or up ? Or is the stack teleported in TRUE diagonal range like the shooters ? Or is it considered like a normal movement of a flyer ?

Is the following correct ?:

E E E E E E E
E R R R R R E
E R R R R R E
E R R O R R E
E R R R R R E
E R R R R R E
E E E E E E E

Please post a correct example if the above is wrong.

Thanks in advance !
forgot :

E = tile out of range
R = tile inrange of teleport
O = the creature to teleport
My vampire counts teleport to any free space in the normal movement range.
So does the Teleport ability and Teleport Spell work the same way as far as range movement is concern?
#4 I'm quite sure so, has been a long time I dont use teleport but it's like the vamp ability apart that it's your hero who will teleport and it will cost mana. (I think)
In your formula distance is equal to "speed" of a normal character. I dont know how the rounding works but in general, if the distance is 4 then you can teleport to any square within the normal unrestircted movement range of a creature with speed 4, etc...

Not 100% sure though.
Do you mean that if the result of the formula is 3.4 or 3 it's the same thing ? It takes so much Spell Power to move big stacks, even that 0.4 is important ... Anyone sure who can answer ?
Yosh !!
I found out how it works finally !
Many thanks to gonlador for his great help, take a look at these pictures :

He took them today. Now, I will explain with details what's the matter with the spell :) (AND IT SUCKS EVEN MORE THAN YOU THINK !!!!).

Now. Mate gonlador had 15 SP at that combat, expert holy talent and a stack of 73 gargoyles (nicely split for testings) of 24 HP each. So, here is the formula result for the Teleport distance :

---------------- R*10/[HP] and R = 300 + 50*SP ----------------

according to that we get a teleport range of :
(300 + 15*50)*10 / (73*24)
which if you do the maths you'll see it gives : 5.99315068
You see that ? It's JUST a little less than 6, THOUGH the game rounds it down to ONLY 5 !!! :O

What's more, pithagorean theorem distance takes place here (the distance you can teleport a stack is TRUE diagonal), BUT it still considers the result only 5 and not 5.99 !!!

If it was considered 5.99 then the target could teleport 5 front and 3 to the side (just like the shooter's range, remember ?), but it can only teleport only 5 exactly in front.

As I said it's true diagonal and the creature is not considered to have 5 speed, since a 5 speed creature could not move 4 front and 3 to the side (it can move only 2 to the side).

You can see the combat those screenshots were taken from here :

Summing up :

1. The formula's result is rounded down DRAMATICALLY, no matter how close you are to the round up number.

2. The distance you are able to teleport is calculated TRUE diagonally according to pithagorean theorem. In the case of the screenshots for example we could go diagonal 4 vertical and 3 horizontal, this makes (4*4 + 3*3)^0.5 = 5 exactly the formula's rounded down result.

3. The spell sucks more than we thought :D lol
