i thought ai prefers archers to melee units.
yesterday in a hunt with my multi rogues targeted demons instead of succubis.
can anyone explain??

I noticed that AI had changed a lot about 3 weeks ago. It seems a more "intelligent" now.

I assume that admins frequently tweak it though most changes are small and subtle.
Haven't noticed anything much different. Yes it can happen to not attack shooters, AI tends to avoid ANY creature that will instantly kill the AI stack in retaliate even in the best case scenario (for the AI), but they will still attack in a move that can be used as retaliation. So if the AI stack attacking has no chance surviving the attack on your shooter it won't do it most probably. What AI should fix is Pit Demons using disruption ray against high defense troops, it's useless, it's like 200 Pit Demons in the stack and they use a stupid-stable-defense-decrease-no-matter-the-number-in-stack spells, while they could do a destructive fireball and instantly finish the enemy. But, maybe admins did that on purpose so this kind of hard hunts are not impossible to win ...

this is the battle i was talking about.
was it worth for them to hit demons instead of succubi or spawns?
never happened to me before!
At that momment, every possible attacking move for the rogues had pretty much the same result, but what made them choose demons (I assume) is that they had lower defense, damage and rogues played twice before them (if they could survive, that is). Newer AI version seems to consider no-retaliation situations a considerable option.

I remember a battle long ago recruits leaving my crossbows survive a sure-death-hit for something else ... don't remember the situation. They act this weird in some situations since their last upgrade.
I believe they will also consider number of shots left as well as mana. Usually the AI will target my GMB over my Anch since they usually have far more shots. AS the battle goes on, though, their shots even out and I notice that Anch get targeted more often when they have mana left as well as shots.

I have also noticed that early in hunts the AI would gladly target my GMB over my Sprites... but if my GMB only have 2-4 shots left, they'll get rid of the Sprites. As if it knows what's coming when I'm out of shots xD

Other considerations: Phantoms used to take priority, now they do not. Not as much, at least. The AI seems to much rather kill a single EFK when there is no path to my Bowmen (completely blocked off) and killing that EFK opens a spot... rather than attacking my much larger phantom stack (or real stack) of EFK.

There have been changes in how the AI deals with blocking in that multiple enemy stacks appear to work together to not get in each other's way. At least, this is how it appears.
take the change as a good sign that admins are still doing work over here.

and ya lately units in hunts with high speed tend to stay out of my ircs range on approach and they have learned how to corner people
AI emm , he always changes
