AuthorAnglerfish
is it an ability of anglerfish that it will certainly kill a
creature even though its only 1 and it is attacking a great levithian??
You're asking whether 'Devour' really works or not right?
Devour:
This creature has a 25% chance to kill exactly half of creatures in target stack instead of dealing normal damage during its attack.

Nope, never seen it happen before.
in many of my ST attempts i hv seen it
1 anglerfish killing 1 hydra!

so my question is if in an ST a rally orb appears giving a random no. of anglerfish and if there is a monster in that wave , will it kill it in one attack??
can anyone answer??
1 anglerfish killing 1 hydra!

If you are sure this has happened due to "Devour" and not your damage, then the answer is Yes. Clearly, Devour ability as given doesn't take HP, Defense, or Resistances into consideration.
1 anglerfish killing 1 hydra! is that hydra in full health(80 Hp) :)
because if it is in full health 1 anglerfish will kill half hydra..lol (will do 40 damge)
yep i am sure it did 81 damage
so will it kill a monster
That doesn't prove that Devour triggered though.
yep i am sure it did 81 damage

Where did you see this?
in my ST attempts
in my ST attempts

Battle link?
I just got a chance to witness this Devour ability in action myself. It doesn't work anything like the description at all. When it's triggered, one (voracious) anglerfish did exactly enough damage to kill one treefolk, NOT half a stack.
maybe stack was two ^^
@12: I saw your battle... devour seemed to have triggered several times.

1st instance: 25 fish did 308* damage against 13 uni. Maximum normal damage (without devour) should have been 279.
2nd instance: 6 fish did 77 damage against 9 uni. Maximum normal damage should have been 67.
3rd instance: 1 fish did 175 damage against 8 treefolk. Maximum normal damage should have been 12.

*Note that 308 damage is exactly the health of 4 uni. (4 * 77 = 308). Just like how it does exactly enough damage to kill one uni and one treefolk in the other two instances.

So how does it work exactly? o_O
maybe if there are 8 treefolk, it has 8 times a 25% to kill one treefolk
As far as I've seen anglerfish, devour seem to deal minimum damage enough to kill at least one creature in a stack, strikingly similar to B
Blade of doom:
This creature's attack or retaliation is guaranteed to slay at least one enemy creature. (Its final damage is increased by its target's unit HP)
This ability will only have effect at a Mercernaries' Guild monster if the latter has less than 1000 maximum HP.
Sorry for double post

I do realise that the "1st instance" is an exception
Sorry for a 3rd post!

This is what I think...

Devour

This creature's attack or retaliation is guaranteed to slay at least one enemy creature. If the [normal] attack will not slay the stack completely, its final damage is increased to a multiple of its target's unit HP. If the attack kills at least half the stack, a bonus +1 damage is dealt.

A very iffy description... I may be wrong!
Thanks, Skuwak for the analysis. I think I understand how the ability works. Nav_lfc almost nailed it:

When the ability is triggered, the final damage is increased to kill a whole number of units (no partial unit left on the stack).

Against low-hp units, I guess the ability isn't worth much, but against something like treefolks or dragons, it would be more useful.
for Geryon:
Why isn't it worth? Doesn't it kill half a stack? Like if I have 50 gargoyles it kills 25?
This topic is long since last update and considered obsolete for further discussions.
