They have been around for a while now, (at least Christmas time), for I have found an example of them being in the 49th survival tournament at level 11.
Other creatures you may have missed, which were introduced around the same time are;

Not new they are here at least 2-3 months ago..They introduced here without any news after some .ru event along with 'skeletal cross bow'

Sorry, just found this one too. Around the 1st of November they were present, so yes Nutella, you need to spend more time in the game ;)
