Author[MCC]Upcoming Merger with .ru – Feedback and Suggestions
I'd like to express some of my concerns about a few proposed solutions to uprising problems. First of all, I think we need to consider only the solutions, which wouldn't affect russian community in any negative way. Otherwise, they'd be upset and perceive our community entering their domain as intruders, on whose behalf their gameplay experience quality gets worse. On the other hand the solutions need to satisfy our needs and rights. So it comes down to solving problems in a way that we find satisfying, and that at the same time do not spoil russian community fun from playing the game. One more important thing we need to remember is that the merge will most likely be a process, that will take some time (it's what one could indirectly conclude from the announcement). So perhaps some of the problems we think there are, might go away on their own, simply because the merge will not be an instant change.

A) Hunter recrods;
There is no fair solution. The first best thing is to merge the records as they are. However, the russian community will always have an advantage there, since their server was founded first and they had the chance to get their records earlier. So even if there are people who got the same result, the odds are, that players from .ru achieved them first. Ereasing the whole record table is not a real option, since it would upset a lot of russian players and I don't think admins want to do that. That's just a matter of interests of majority (russian community) against interests of minority (our community). The only viable solution is to keep the old records separate, until new records of .com and .ru players blend in with each other.

B) FSP differences;
It definately has some influence on the gameplay, however I highly doubt we'll get any compensation for the events the russian community had. From their point of view, we'd get a lot of free FSP, they had to earn with hard work. So again, a matter of upsetting part of the russian community against our interests. I believe the much better solution is to provide .com characters a bonus to fsp, that would apply for a certain period of time (a few months perhaps). That solution would help us to catch up, and wouldn't really irritate russians, since it would be a slow process, designed not to give us anything for free, but mearly catch up. The should be some precautions to prevent abuse, but those are just some criteria that need to be established to determine which characters are allowed to profit from such bonus and for how long.

C) map problems: our areas vs their areas
The difficulties rising with the map merge concern mostly houses and for the clans - owning some mining facilities. There is a lot of players here, who have their real estates. So losing our map is not really an option, even with full compensation of gold spent on those estates, because it would upset our community. So the reasonable solution would be to merge maps as they both are in forms of two continents with some sort of travel route. Or perhaps fit our map in theirs, in the lower left corner, where there's still quite a lot of space. As far as clans' ownership over mining and production facilities - all it takes is to make a new event, that would allow .com and .ru clans to take over them again simultanously.

That's all for now. Might post some more thoughts later.
- Character management

I have 3 characters on .ru, one with same name as my main account (DecayWolf)...
If I have to choose, I'll prefer .com character.

- Language

Should have any bot auto translator, because no one will understand what russians talk, and virse versa, something like the "natural" bots, which say some times thing relationed with we say...

In this case, one bot which translate the language.

-Technical

The FSP will be a problem, the .ru folks have lot more fsp than us, like 2 fsp levels or above it, so we need some boost before the merge.
Character Management

Players with a main on both servers will have a problem with them having estates, rare arts, enchanted arts, etc on both characters (these are illigal for a multi to have).

A player should be able to choose which character he wants to keep as his main and then have a grace period to transfer estates, rare arts and gold etc from his new multi (ex main) to his perminant main (both then clearly labeled as main and multi). This has the advantage of not requiring any new game code, only a relaxing of rules for a specific period after the merger and anyone (including admins) can check the transfer logs to ensure rules arn't broken.
This topic is long since last update and considered obsolete for further discussions.
